Goldilocks And The Three Bears: The Perfect Family

Ойын-сауық

I finish out the puss in boots series with that of goldilocks and why she has the perfect family, they may be bears but they are the family she needs.

An additional easter egg that a lot of people miss (since you have to pause the movie) is when she opens the book you can actually read the story that Goldi loved so much. There is a passage, "Hoisted onto her father's ice covered shoulders, the little girl looked at her mother shared a smile. At that moment, they all knew that everything was just right..." How does the movie end? She is on the lap of Papa bear and looks at Mama, smiles and says, "Everything is Just right". I loved the foreshadowing....

Not really foreshadowing or Easter egg but I really liked how after Baby accidentally activated the giant bear trap, Goldi’s dress got so dirty to the point that it was completely brown, like the bears’ fur, and that she got some scars above her left eye, just like how the bears all have some sort of scar on the face (Papa bear and his left eye, Baby and his right ear, Mama bear and the scar on her nose)

That book also gives us insight into a “perfect” family in her mind. Not just human, but the book had a mum,dad and daughter. She was subconsciously projecting the books ideal for a perfect family onto the bears, including her brother, who was not included in the “perfect” traditional family. That’s why it was so important he was the one she saved. He always pointed out that she was a fugitive orphan, but saving him meant it broke the ideal of a “perfect” family in her mind she’d grown up to believe.

The snippet where Mama Bear tells Goldilocks they are going to help her fulfill her wish has a nice moment in the background when Mama Bear tells “come on boys”: the father puts his hand on his shoulder as to encourage him to follow the lead of the mother and as to tell “it’s alright, son”. They might not be the brightest lights in the room, but there is a feeling of family bonding that I have not seen in a long time in a Disney film.

It’s a sad thought that, if Goldie had gone through with her wish at the moment that Baby was being pulled into the energy field, that Mama and Papa would have lost BOTH of their kids: Baby would be dead, and Goldie would be with another family. Also, we have no idea what a “proper family” would even be like towards Goldie. Would they be total strangers? Her old parents? Is the only standard she’s looking for that they would be human? Because nothing about a “proper family” implies a GOOD or LOVING family, just a traditional one. Goldie could have upended her life and ended up with awkward strangers at best or cold abusers at worst.

Honestly, when I first watched it I thought her wish was going to be to be a bear. Especially with how most of the arguments between her and Baby always seem to have jabs that she's adopted and not a bear so I figured that she would make a wish that either turned her family human or turned her into a bear so she'd finally be truly "part of a family" It seems like a bit of an odd comparison, but I follow this guy online who grew up as the only average sized person in a family of people with dwarfism and it made him feel left out of his own family, so much to the point that he would literally wish to have dwarfism so he'd fit in with the rest of his family. This gives me similar vibes.

Goldilocks is the most luckiest character in the Shrek universe. Not only was she welcomed in by a crime family as great as the Bears, (after breaking into their cottage and eating their food lets not forget). But they also trust Goldi so much they made her their leader. And still follow her even after learning that she wants a “proper family.” Let’s have a moment to take that in

I love how this movie masterfully included all the cliché tropes that Disney over uses, but can never put together. Goldie and the Three bears are the traumatic anti heros, who realize the error of their ways and change sides. Death the neither good nor bad, but he’s a direct plot point and antagonist for Puss. A literal representation of Puss fear that he has to overcome. Then there’s Jack Horner, whos just a bad guy, he’s not redeemable, he has no tragic back story, he’s just got a reason and his villainy. All combined makes for a near perfect movie.

  • @Thomasmemoryscentral

    1. Unlike many of Disneys current baddies, Goldie and her bears turn out to be antiheroes who changed on their own and were never that bad to begin with. Disney tries too hard sometimes justifying an antihero with a complicated backstory and the hero or heroine talking them down to switch sides. Here, she changes by her own decision 2. Death Wolf provides a big obstacle for Puss to overcome but by the end, he in a way begrudgingly respects him because our hero feline by then is different for the better 3. Jack Horner is a refreshing breath of fresh air and is a villain all of us love to hate. A boy literally handed down riches and in the end beats himself because his selfish desires did him in

Just a theory, but during the flashback of young Goldilocks in the cabin, the bears aren't wearing clothing when they find her. But now they are all wearing an item of clothing: Mama wears a hat and earrings, Papa wears a scarf and Baby wears a necklace. Maybe they wear clothing to help Goldi fit in, to show her they are a family?

Even when she was still kind of the "Bad guy" I still liked her, mostly because I knew there was something deeper to her character and I just thought she was awesome. I loved her trying to fit in and wishing that she had a real family, but also embracing her bear family at the end. Also, can we talk about how awesome her design is? I just love her design! I'm so glad Disney didn't make this movie, because DreamWorks (mostly) designs female characters to look more normal and don't always try to make them look "sexy" or "appealing". Although, Disney's starting to learn from DreamWorks a bit, at least with Encanto. I mostly love Goldilock's outfit, how it looks somewhat like a traditional cultural dress but also kinda modern, and the beads and her poofs in her hair give her so much character. And they still made her pretty, but gave her more of a tough attitude in her looks, and a bit more messy and rough looking. Also, as someone who lost their mom and grandma (who I considered my parents, because my mom and grandma mostly took care of me) I totally support that the people who love you most are your closest family. Now my mom and grandma are gone, and I grew up an only child but I call my best friend, my sister.

I think at first I didn't quite understand as to why she wanted to replace the bears who raise her, but after paying attention to the end it became more obvious how she's insecure about her position being the odd one out. Added with how a throughout the movie baby bear keeps denying Goldie being his sister and reminding her how she's nothing like her. To him it might just be a funny joke took lightly cause deep down baby bear was already comfortable exchanging tad insensitive remarks cause Goldie would just backfire his statements. Little did baby bear knows is that just pushes her insecurity more (seeing baby bear as a competition maybe? Since all her just rights, baby bear has it. Competing to be the bear family's only just right) and it made me tear up every time, especially the scene she revealed her wish.

Reminds me of the recent Christmas my family had. Now, we never officially adopted anyone but we always were that family that’s kids would bring home their friends who needed good parents and offer up our own to the point our parents were acting as the parents to these kids too and we were treating this kids like siblings. Now, obviously, legally, my parents and my siblings had not taken these kids in as official family but we did adopt them by heart. Most have moved on and we all wish them a good life. However, one stayed. She most recently we gave a necklace and a note. It was basically a physical reminder and declaration that she was family regardless of the lack of blood ties. She cried. Her son, my nephew went over to pat on her in comfort and then got really happy when he read the letter attached. As for why we never legally adopted her, it’s complicated and full of legal bullshit. She and her mom lived with my family around when she was just starting elementary school. Her mom as a family friend. Not exactly a good one but tried to be a good person but…well horrible life and lots of mental scars from it. Anyway, her daughter grew up with my siblings and I for years like this until her mom and her moved out when I was in middle school. At this time, her bio father got legal time with her. This ended up not in her best interest. The person was an abusive and neglectful asshole. To this day, she has no gone no contact so that this cycle she was put through because of that person ends there. It’s for the best. There is no excuse for what happened to my sister. Anyway, the family friend, my sister’s biological mom. She moved out and her mental health issues did lead to some times where my sister had to act as the grown up and care take herself and her mother. At 18 my sister moved out. Some years later though…her mom passed away in a robbery. A man broke into her mom’s apartment and killed her and stole all her stuff. At this point my sister is an adult, her bio mom is gone and her bio dad is non contact and with good reason. Her husband just recently became her ex because he was also an abusive husband and she didn’t want her son learning that from him. So she turned to us, and we have been here the whole time. We have always been here for her even when she hasn’t felt she wished to reach out. She has been doing so much better these days and finally feels like she is in a good place. She spends more time with us. She has her child, my nephew, call our parents grandma and grandpa. And so this Christmas we wanted to give her one more reassurance, something she can physically see and remember to remind her we are always here. And so we gave her that necklace and that letter. She has put it next to her mother’s ashes I’m told and thanks her mother for befriending us all those years ago. And we are grateful she is our sister. I’m so proud of my nephew. I never cared about blood relation. No one in our family ever has. If you adopt with the heart you adopt with your soul and that means so much more than blood in my family and it’s the way all of us are and have been. My siblings were part of this. We never felt neglected or left out whenever our parents would add another kid to the brood. We actually brought them into the fold ourselves and did the same. And now we have another sister for life. And maybe you are asking what happened to the rest. Well…sometimes you move apart. And some things can’t be forgiven. Sometimes they don’t feel the same and you still want to be supportive, and so you are. And that’s what happened with those. That’s why my dear sister is the last one left of those kids we brought home and shared our parents with. I don’t mind adding another sibling. Frankly, my parents would be perfectly happy adopting my sister legally, but she is an adult now herself. And if they did so, she would be liable for any debt upon their deaths. My parents and I have discussed it though. If they ever have a decent windfall, they will add her, so she can inherit a piece and so can her son. They just want to protect her a bit legally. And maybe you ask well what if something happened to her kid? Well, due to her situation with her ex husband she has put stuff in place for that. She has made it clear that legally, the next guardians are my parents and then one of us other siblings after them, passing over her bio dad and ex husband. She made sure that these legal guardians were iron clad. I just wanted to share my sister’s story.

One of the reasons for Goldi's insecurity was because Baby Bear kept saying that Goldie isn't his sister. I'm sure her insecurity was always there, but Baby Bear's words (it is assumed that he said this multiple times) actually cut her deep. That was actually Goldi's true wish. It wasn't to have human family. It was to overcome her personal demon of fearing that she's not the bears' family. And it was resolved, thanks to Purito (however you spell his name) and Mama Bear. Btw, ironically, the Wishing Star would not have been able to grant Goldi her true wish, because overcoming her fear is something that she'll have to solve herself. And that's also why it's a wish worth fighting for.

I assumed her parents died but if they gave her up she definitely better off with her bear family who the older sibling? and I guess it a good message for adopted children to accept there adopted families and yep it sweet they chose to assist her despite being heartbroken that she doesn’t see them as her family

At the 4:14 mark in the video, after Goldi said she wants a real proper family, you can see the bears are hurting on the inside. That one phrase tore their souls apart. That scene, no matter how many times I've seen it, hurts every time. It hurts since I was adopted. I love my family as is, but still, this scene hurts.

No, the term Antagonist is nothing to do with a character's action and morality. A opposing character who went against protagonist is called antagonist. For example if a heinous criminal is a protagonist (main lead) of a story, then a detective character who is chasing them down for the sake of justice and peace is a antagonist of the story. And Villains are people who are active in crimes. Note : a Villain can be a protagonist of a Story and Fiction. (E.g. Hannibal Lether series) I was also mistaken Antagonist with Villains long time ago until I learn in English major in university.

Goldilocks and the Three Bears are one of the highlights of Puss in Boots: The Last Wish; they have half the comedy in the film. Mama Bear, played by Olivia Colman, is the best voiced character in the family. The only flaw in their third of the story is that Goldilocks revealing her wish could have been done better; as is, she just lashes out at the bears.

It would have been weird that Goldilocks is friends with the three bears since they didn't like her in the original story, but this movie has an excuse for it, because it's from the Shrek franchise, which is a satirical take on fairy tales.

Here's an interesting part. Goldi could have gotten her wish from the Star, had she really wanted to. And that's after the Spanish Splinter scene. It was Goldi who grabbed the scroll. She could have used the wish right then and there. But what did she do after grabbing the scroll? She went straight to Puss and Kitty, and all three of them ripped the scroll. And that's because by that time, she understood her true wish, and therefore didn't need the Wishing Star.

I’m going to be honest I was getting to the point where ‘being adopted angst’ and like it’s a bad thing there always ‘orphans’. Then go find there blood parents and everything fine. (Keith voltron or finding dory) Or they were adopted they go down the villain route *cough cough* crewella (I hate that film with passion). Growing up was difficult having nothing but penny from the rescuers as related as me. I have memory when I was 6 years old we were doing Father’s Day cards I put my hand up and said ‘what if you don’t have a dad’. My god the silence spoke volume the teacher went silent then said ‘what about grandad’. I was never close to grandad growing up. I did it anyway to fit in. When I was 18 my birth mum was dying. I contacted with the birth family. But I felt like I didn’t belong. I got so angry that my brother got on with them and here I was left out. Honestly I can’t be wasting my energy on people. I’ve realised who is my mum and who are my family. It’s my adopted family. They ARE my family. I couldn’t care less of the other one.

Nah. She shows numerous times throughout the film that she has trust issues. She’s constantly jumping to the worst possible scenarios immediately and warms up the quickest to Perrito cuz he was betrayed by his family. As for hypocrisy, what for? If you’re talking about when she lied to Puss about the wedding, that’s not hypocrisy. It’s her lying to make HIM feel better. Think logically for 2 seconds, how would she have known he never came to the wedding if she was never there? Furthermore, Kitty SOFTPAWS is enough indication as to why she’s distrustful after being mutilated (declawed). It seems you’re the tool here lol

@@ma.2089 you are completely right with all of this and im on your side, but i think when they say she was being a hypocrite they are refering to the first puss in boots because she was working with humpty to betray puss and give him to the authorities, but in the course of the first movie she explains to puss how she was declawed and slowly starts to grow fond of him trying to warn him about humptys plan
