🔸 Golden Rules Of Graphic Design In 2024 (Updated)
These are not the normal or commonly known golden rules of graphic design, oh no-no-no! These golden rules are important to graphic designers, but ones that people tend to forget about, not know, or under estimate.
If you listen to the content in todays graphic design tutorial from Satori Graphics, and understand the importance of these golden rules, you will become a better designer who creates and crafts better graphic design work. Being a graphic designer isn't all about being able to design something in Adobe software as example, there is a lot more to it behind the scenes that people do need to be aware of.
If it's something as simple as following pop culture trends as a designer, or finding your own unique style so you can become easily recognisable, as will you work, the golden rules in todays video aim to help you as a graphic designer in your career.
If you found todays video on lesser known golden rules of graphic design enjoyable or useful, let me know in the comments section and drop a like on your way out. Subscribe to stay updated to all of my uploads and until next time, design your future today, peace ✌️

Your motion graphics are second to none and definitely contribute to making your videos even more inspiring! May I ask if you create them from scratch yourself or if they are based on AE-templates from services like Envato/Motion Array?

Thanks a bunch. Sometimes I edit videos by myself in davinci Resolve, or other times I work with 2 editors. We use a combination of templates and then also custom graphics.

Hello! Really nice channel ! let's see if you could give me some advices. I have started to study Graphic Design since 1 year ago, maybe I should have started before ( I am 44) but that's it. I am studying theory and Tools like Canva, Photoshop , Illustrator. Expecially last two tools are huge , a lot of functionalities and things to remember and apply. I mean, it will takes at least 1 year to finish the first Photoshop + Illustrator Course that I have started to attend online ( and I am intentioned to attend others, then). Meanwhile, I would like to start creating something but it's difficult : I have to be good enough using the tools and it takes time, and studying them it's pretty time and energy consuming. Sometimes that is a little bit frustrating. Some advices to optimize my studies and starting to create something? Thank you so much and congratulations again for your great channel.
Gosh, you made me laugh so hard when you made that joke about Walter White. Thanks for the great content, Tom. I realllllly appreciate your effort in putting all of this together. I've learned a lot from you. Thank you so much.

For clarity, the first encouragement of using mass cultural Intellectual Properties as a source of inspiration, should not be confused with misusing, without proper contexts, to ride the popular welcoming, that, might've been a good idea - until you actually looked at the legality of it. For better, or for worse; A lot of these properties are owned by billion-dollars companies and corporations, that under the right circumstances, will sue you out of your entire career. Hence, unless you know what you're doing, even if it's prompted to directly reference these, only do so with cultural tropes available and protected under Public Domain, such as classical art, and cultural properties that has since lost its copyright status. Remember folks, there is a substantial difference, in artists, and designers. Artist are mostly entitled to having more legal freedom of remixing, and reusing these Intellectual Properties, under "Art for art's sake"; While designers should focus more on the functionality and reasoning of each decision in their works. Therefore, designers are more vulnerable to legal questionings to their design decisions. So unless, you're a in a more prominent position, having the socio-legal freedom of reusing such tropes; or rather simply the act of suing you, or sending a Cease-And-Desist notice to you, will cause more social backlash to the corporation than not, then good. But I think most designers here are not like that. With commercial works, you might've be able to push the legal responsibility to the client in the signed contract, but you're still running the risk of tarnishing your reputation. More complicated, are the difference in the legalities of Fair Use in certain jurisdiction(s). In countries like Japan, is infamous for where the domestic law on Fair Use is far more stricter than any other Western countries, which will make you even more susceptible to legal questioning. While in mainland China, the use of Intellectual Properties is more relaxed in the domestic law, due to the Chinese inherited the more traditional East Asian principle of viewing Intellectual Properties as a more of a collectively-owned part of society; as opposed to the more market-oriented, individualistic approach that of most of the Western countries. As an example, if you're designing for a client, who wished to associate themselves with Disney's Mickey Mouse, advise them against it. Not only are you running the risk of copyright infringement, you're also helping them to misuse the icon to assume the false-association to the real Walt Disney Company. As a rule, use mass cultural tropes as a source of indirect inspiration, but don't directly misuse these in your commercial works.
One thing I find pretty intersecting is first you said keep up with trend like POP culture/meme or social media event but also another rule is less consume media LOL it very like say your should have work life balance but also you should have a 2nd job for better life

I am in Florida USA, and I am intent on learning Graphic Design with hopes to develop a professional career. It seems a lot of the tutorials I'm finding are produced and narrated by British individuals. I have a very difficult time understanding these people, due to their heavy accents and the rapid speed in which they talk. Personally, I find it difficult to learn anything from these people. It's a shame, because they seem capable. But these videos are not useful to me.
