Golden Cap Campsite (West Dorset Leisure Holidays) | Tour & Review | September 2023

We take you round the Golden Cap Holiday Park in Seatown, near Bridport, Dorset, where we're staying in our Roller Team Auto Roller 707 motorhome with our 2 rescue chihuahuas for a couple of nights.
We enjoyed our stay on our touring pitch on the campsite which forms part of the wider holiday park, where you can also find lodges, static caravans, glamping pods, and bell/safari tents.
The park is run by West Dorset Leisure Holidays, along with the sister site Highlands End, whose facilities you can use as a guest. It's apparently a 5-10 minute drive but we didn't try it out.
We really enjoyed our stay. It was quiet and the location just a few minutes from the beach was spot on. The beach itself was also good because it had 24 hour public toilets, several food vendors (seasonal) and a pub (which we didn't try). There's also a well stocked shop and the staff were friendly.
Being picky, the pitches were fairly close together and looked perhaps a bit shabby, and the electric hook up had certainly seen better days- but it worked fine (we did trip it once but that's probably because we were running a few appliances plus our heating; the rest of the time we had no issues). The facilities block is dated and does seem to attract whatever gets brought in such as grass and gravel, but it was clean apart from that and there were no queues for showers etc.
The one drawback was the road to get to the site - it's only a short distance of maybe a mile or so, but there are some very tight spots, and much of it is a single track with passing places. It's so narrow that at points both wing mirrors were touching the hedge.
In terms of the campsite, we'd stay there again (or even hire one of the holiday lodges/caravans/pods) but we wouldn't rush to drive the road again, especially during peak season as that could be a bit hair raising.

It’s a shame that campsites haven’t got rid of those old fashioned rows of sinks! And created more sink cubicles. We live in the area and most roads in Dorset and Somerset are narrow, I only have a VW camper and have to take care😊 but Golden Cap area is lovely 😊 nice video description 👍👍

Thanks and I do agree! At least some of the shower cubicles did also have sinks in them so there was a choice at this site. I have a VW van as my daily vehicle and I'd happily go back to Golden Cap in that, even if I did still have a few sharp intakes of breath on the last little bit of the journey 😉
