Gold Wing-DCT Sport Mode

This is my 10th motovlog video featuring my new 2022 Honda Gold Wing DCT-Bagger. In this video I demonstrate how to use Sport Mode and overriding DCT gears to maximize higher performance while in automatic-drive function. Many viewers have commented about Sport Mode performance and experiences.

    My '21 africa twin DCT is similar. It has 3 sport modes and they're each mostly just a set of different shift points basically. With the "higher" modes more aggressive at upshifting and holding onto the gears in downshifting. The engine power settings only seem to be different "throttle curves". In all of them you still get all of it at wide open throttle, but the lower power settings just make the throttle less snatchy and that's about it LOL. I drive in the "D" mode all the time (probably equivalent to the wing's Tour or Eco modes) to save wear and tear as well as gas. Plus I dont need that motor at 3000rpm to get from stoplight to stoplight LOL.

    Be careful Mac about romping on that bike before the break in period is over…. I agree with you about the two bikes being different and understanding what you are riding. I had the speed bike back in my twenties, but then spent two decades on a V-Twin. Loving my Goldwing as it fits perfectly my riding style. Ride Safe !

    Subscribed. I like your way of youtubing. You should make a motovlog with a storyline of how biking in your area is, what is located where ever you pass by, is there good twisties where you ride, costs of motorcycling in general where you live; insurance busa vs GW, is it obligatory to govenrmenat inspect your bike yearly, where do you go when you want to have the most fun when your ride etc. We owners know the bike, we dont know your surroundings. Greetings from Finland, waiting for the season to begin.

    Good ideas. I will eventually start including more of that kind of stuff. Right now, I am showing my journey with this new bike. That's why I identify the milage in most videos. To show I'm very new to the Gold Wing. Thank you for your response. I will include some things in my coming videos.

    Eloise almost bucked me off after backing into parking space (not in reverse gear). Still in sport mode, I rapped the throttle and boy did we jump forward! I learned right then and there…get outta sport mode in city traffic! I also have trouble with unintentionally honking my horn too 😂! Dang button seems like it is in a weird place🤷🏻‍♂️

    Sport mode, among other features are the Gold Wing’s secret sauce. An 800+ lbs sport touring bike that delivers this much fun factor and value has set the performance bar for larger touring rigs. BMW Flat six and Harley/Indian V-twins included.

    Sport doesn't give you any more power, just changes the throttle response, it's like have a 1/4 turn throttle on a race bike. I only use sport mode because the other modes are so laggy. Even in a downpour, I'm in sport mode. Also keeps the under sprung suspension as tight as it gets!

  • @roadglide

    @roadglide

    @@LUVMYVFR I wasn’t questioning that or wondering how Sport mode operates. But appreciate anyway. It’s the whole enchilada. A DCT in Sport is mild to wild. One of the many great things about Honda Gold Wing. Other brands have their sauce.
