I bought a Centenario in 2004 in Mexico City. I paid 3500 pesos. Now is around 50,000 pesos. I bought plata Libertad 4 years ago. I paid 400 pesos. Now is around 560 pesos. You get the point. Yes. Paper money is toilet paper.

I just got the shakedown coming through Customs in CD Chihuahua with 100 oz of Silver Buffalos. I had to pay $400 import usd in tax. I argued for 2 hours because it was way less than 10k. I was tired of arguing and I'm not real good using Spanish, so I just paid it. I know I was scammed. The agent said it was "goods" so the tax was based on 100 oz (spot was 26 usd) minus the $500 allowed for "merchandise" @19% I am so fckn pissed. I have receipts but I am not sure if I have recourse. My argument was it is still a financial instrument.
