KleshGuitars some of the stripped ones may be Petoskey Stones. Ancient coral reefs found all throughout Michigan. Awesome video. Kids were excited to watch it. Glad that there were some interesting finds in the sand. If we get a video planning out our bucket, I’ll sent you the link.

Going back and watching these old ones.. Kind of makes me wish I could start doing this myself... with a twist. I'd love to take the stones that you just throw away and go through them and see if there's any precious gems or just cool rocks in them. And if I could get the stuff, I'd then like to either polish or even cut and facet them.. (something I've been wanting to learn to do for a while) I think that side of things is underappreciated in paydirt reviews.

I live in MI so I was especially curious about this one. I know there's gold in the rivers here. I haven't found any yet.. haven't panned here yet. I've heard most of the gold here is very fine and no big nuggets.. would be so cool for someone to prove it to be different. That five lb bag was okay for MI, a few specks is better than no specks! Great shout out to Ray Johnson, awesome that he sent it! Thanks for sharing!

I'm North of GR. The Rogue River has gold. It's not the proper name of that river.. It's actually really the Rouge River but a 1900's map maker spelled it wrong and they never changed it. Gold in the Grand for sure. I'm betting you know this already :) HH!

The glaciers left Michigan with some really interesting stuff. We have fossils, some gemstones and gold. Most of the gold is fine as you got there. I find at least one color to every pan in my yard. Working on a way to process it faster cause the glacier dumped a layer of till at least 75 ft thick here.

Another good video. I'm in Michigan as well and was interested in the location. My son goes to school in Mt. Pleasant - too bad this wasn't on public land. You have to go through quite a bit of gravel here in this state to find any real quantity but I've found AU in every stream and river I've ever checked except for one farm creek that was all sand...

There were actually several gold mines in Michigan's upper peninsula. But none of them were ever very profitable and did not stay in business too long. There is a large history of copper mining up there and some of the geography up there, especially along the shores of Lake Superior, is awe inspiring. There is a Michigan chapeter of the GPAA and they try to have an outing every summer on the shores of Lake Superior where they run sluice boxes and dig all the black sand that shows up along the Superior shoreline. Hope to make it there someday.

Michigan glacial till is really interesting gravel. That one rock was a fossil shell. We find those sometimes. In Michigan's Upper Peninsula, we get a lot of black sand due to all the iron ore in the U.P. We also seem to get a fair amount of pyrite due to the granite. From what I understand, about the only place in Upper Michigan that has any decent possibilities for gold panning is the Yellow Dog river basin up west of Marquette. There's not a lot of gold, but I guess you can find some flakes. I haven't been up there yet to try it. The glacial till gold is all really tiny flakes due to the glaciers grinding it up so much.

kinda cool as that is not a gold producing area, the UP has more gold on with the Iron deposits. the VR was cool, to see A place I have been before. Also you better crush that big quartz rocks and granite. We have as much as 5% in granite in places in WI. Just costs way to much to mine for it. Now if you find a quartz vein in that granite all bets are open.

Gold in a quartz matrix occurs naturally so it's possible. However, it's much more common to find Pyrite (fools gold) and Mica in a quartz matrix, so that's also possible.

I dont know how I scrolled through all these comments and noone mentioned that the translucent banded rocks are lake superior agates. One you held up had some really nice banding. Hope you kept them! Lake superior agates are actually really valuable. If you ever do your 50 states tour again you NEED to check out duluth and the north shore of Minnesota. Beautiful scenery, lots of rock beaches to search for agates too!

Ray Johnson I'm a total noob when it comes to crypto currencies like bitcoin. But I think the first person to claim it by transferring it to their wallet and have the transactions confirmed would be the person to get it. I tried but when it came to the verifications I got an error. Not knowing what to do I deleted it to try and start over. Then it said it was empty. I'd guess at that point you had claimed it slightly after I found it and tried.

Anthony Goodley I’m not 100% sure either. I’m new to crypto as well. Still shows in my Blockchain balance this morning but is still pending. I’m sure that as long as the wallet has a balance and someone has the secret key you can scan and take the money.

Too bad more gold and larger pieces werent found, nice video.... shocker, I lived at 16872 East Wyoming Cir. 102 which is right behind you in the video to the right, I can tell you some stories that took place when i was there, not suitable for kids... A little legal info for you... the managers screwed up on me when i went on vacation and because they issued an affidavit that i didnt pay rent, pay up or vacate and stuck it to my door while I was gone.... I paid by check, before i left 2 days prior at the end of the month, before it was due.. back then they didnt give out receipts, I told them when I first moved in, they need to and it could create a legal issue if they dont.. when i got back 10 days into the month, my neighbors ribbed me, they read the notice.. I called the bank and the check never cleared.. I went to the office and bitched to the manager which was the 3rd one in 1 year.. the new manager hired while I was gone, asked for a Receipt, I said you guys dont and never have given out receipts.. he asked to whom i gave my check.. I said I dont know, she came and gone apparently because she isnt around and when she was collecting rent, she was a new hire.. I held up my notice and said she put the check into a recipe box.. so they pulled out the recipe box and dug through it.. it was in the back of the box.. they were embarrassed... the new young Rookie manager snatched the notice out of my hand, I said its ok you can keep it my LAWYER MADE A COPY FOR HIMSELF and had it Certified.. they raise everyone's rent except mine because when they swore under oath that the notice they posted was the truth, it wasnt.. i could have sued and owned the complex, where you would be my tenant... but im a nice guy and didnt.. I paid $175 a month for rent back then, everyone else was paying up around $375 when i left, everyone was pissed that they paid more than I did.. if you are into fishing, at Aurora Reservoir, the South end left side there is a tree in a cove, the west side of the cove, it takes about 20 minutes or more to walk, I rode a bike .. I caught big ass Trout, using orange power bait and some lures.. when the end of summer comes around August, Im going to a place where there is light bluish dirt, its a place where miners did some hydraulic mining and panning.. The place also has Blue Diamonds which i came across by accident in doing some research.. at the time no one was looking for diamonds while they were looking for gold.. one man found one thinking it was quartz and later sold it for a small fortune . I wont disclose the place as I have drove by there many times and no one is there.. And dont want people to read and go there and screw things up, as some do.. Depending on how good the place is placer wise, I well send you a sample, but that wont be until the end of summer when the river is at its lowest.. Also there is Platinum in the area, Platinum is slightly magnetic, which I well be using a magnet with a 200 pound pull to see if i can find some.. if you was to Research on Blue Diamonds it will state they only come from Africa, i will see if this place contradicts it or if the story in the Research, was folk lore.. one thing Diamonds are found where Gold is Found as with some other gems.. as one book my ex-wife read, it states no matter what you find dredging or mining keep it and research it to see if its anything of value.. when we were dredging she threw back into the river a little over 4 ounces of Gold and at the time it was $800 an ounce.. it was heavy and looked like lead and that is what she thought it was.. It was Contaminated Gold Covered in Mercury.. there is no lead in the area and the miners used Mercury for Gold processing..

That's hilarious about you living near me. This place is actually pretty good now. The management are quick to respond to any issues, All my neighbors are quiet, no gunshots or anything. Someone dinged my bumper in the parking lot but that's about all. I don't have proper fishing gear but I'll try aurora reservoir if I do get some. Thanks for the comment! all the best -KleshGuitars

The boardman river not too far from me has trace amounts of gold in it. what I was told was the effort of extracting the gold and the amount already sampled didnt make it worth it. Michigan has laws reguarding recreational gold mining. The number one is damaging the shore line. You can get in heaps of trouble digging out the side of a creek or shoreline. Michigan does allow panning for gold but it is limited to so much per month. The limits do not make it worth the effort. Thats wha t I was told. Still it would be fun.

Just a comment about the shipping method, a Flat Rate box would have been a lot cheaper (That looks like a standard "pay by weight" box). A medium box ships for about $13, you can order "Regional Rate A" boxes, they ship for about $7.50. (I have an industrial bearing sales business and almost everything ships out USPS, and of course I watch shipping costs).
