Gold Prospecting a Rainforest Stream.
We head into the deep rainforest of North Queensland on the trail of the 'Old Timers' who discovered alluvial gold in the area in the late 1800s. Although the stream is only known to produce fine alluvial gold, we nevertheless give the ATX a run in the fresh water fitted with the sensitive 8" monoloop coil. No targets come to light so out comes the prospecting pan and a trace of 'colour' shows we are in the right area. The intriguing thing about this alluvial gold is that the source has never been found -- possibly an undiscovered reef upstream or perhaps the area has been isolated geologically from the source tens of thousands of years ago? In any event, a great day out in idyllic country and a good way to waste a few hours! Thanks for watching and subscribing. www.nqexplorers.com nqexplorers www.garrettaustralia.com.au

I love vids like this,....Seeing places that probably haven't seen a detector. Huge benefit over the "old timers". Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for your great comment 88 - glad you enjoyed the video, yes our detecting technology gives us a real advantage over the 'old timers' for sure. Happy Hunting mate! Warren.
Geez Warren, could fall asleep in a hammock there with all those nature sounds, nice find though!
Certainly the rivers and creeks in FNQ are my favourite places to detect NQ. Cool, crystal clear water, the sights, sounds and smells of mother nature and I can quench my thirst directly from the stream. Don't even need a water bottle. Throw in a sweet apple to crunch upon while I paddle and I am close to heaven.
Beautiful place, it wasn't a waste of time watching, as a matter of fact it's quite cold in Scotland at the moment so that environment looks a lot nicer right now. Wishing you lots of gold and other happy adventures :)
Thanks for sharing Warren. It was so peaceful there. A good place to spend a couple of days hunting gold or the old timers campsites. HH Larry

Thanks for watching Larry - yes the area is full of history - but the jungle along the creek banks is almost impenetrable - but worth the effort! Happy Prospecting mate! Warren.
Looks like a stunning place to detect and pan, the noises in the back ground was amazing! pleased you got a few bits of gold. all the best Paul

Thanks for your comment Paul - that creek is a beautiful spot to while away a few hours, with the bonus of the possibility of some gold in the pan. The surrounding jungle is all but impenetrable - so all activity is restricted to the creek line itself. I will do a further video, exploring further up the creek where the country gets really rugged. Happy Fossicking mate! Warren.
Very interesting thankyou... Especially the fact that the source of the gold was never found... Hmm wouldn't it be great to discover that... Great video...👍😎
Great looking spot! I should stop procrastinating and finish my highbanker, we have mainly fine alluvial here too. HH, Ash.
Warren great to see you out doing what you love best. What a fantastic spot! Also glad you didn't go home empty handed. Off the the golden triangle in a couple of days for a week. Looking forward to it! Thanks very much for posting such a great video. Loved the versatility of the ATX. Ian

Thanks for commenting Willo - best of luck in the goldfields mate - way too hot (and wet) to go out west here at the moment, probably back out around Easter with the ATX and the AT Gold. Happy Fossicking mate! Warren.

Thanks for your great comment Hugh - let's hope that stream is a 'River of Gold' somewhere upstream! Stay warm and HH! Warren.
For those asking on here about the location - just visit your local DERM or National Parks Ranger's office. 😜🤣🤣 Practically all the old North Queensland gold areas are now covered by Wet Tropics Heritage listed areas or protected State Forests. The dry areas like Croydon or up on the old Palmer River Fields are possibly available (if you can dodge the lead from claim owners and itchy trigger fingered drug growers!) 🙄😬
Good one Warren.Lovely spot. Thanks for the interesting video.Cheers,Trev.

nice you don't have the salt water crocs in that stream...look up and that's where the gold comes from; at least in Colorado...good luck...I like your use of the word 'color' which shows you are a real prospector
You did good Warren! Better than any panning results I have ever gotten in N California Gold Field streams. Most of our areas are already "Claimed" and people here tend to get a little perturbed to the point of fire arms coming out if you happen upon their "Claim". There is plenty here to find, but the crazies have all the good claims. I live near Nevada City and Grass Valley where the old Empire Mine conglomerate is. They did a lot of hydraulic mining here. The main rivers, the Yuba and the Feather are full of the black sand. Nice video and pretty country!

Thanks for your great comment Matthew - some areas north of here are similar to how you describe - you have to be on your guard and most places are 'claimed'. Some of these gold hermits get pretty agitated too! Would be worth detecting those old hydraulic workings - maybe they missed a few pieces! Happy Prospecting mate! Warren.

I have a friend who is very secretive where he prospects in our area, but he does well. I have been trying to go out with him, but I don't know how he does it, I am always busy with the family when he invites me! One of these days I will make it out with him and if it is ok with him, I'll try to film some of it. But for now, I will stick to coin shooting parks and schools.

You don't think you loose a lot of small gold the way you were panning it?..I've never seen someone pan like that..
Paradise - looks like this...or maybe this is Paradise. Either way - a beautiful location to be..let alone pan and detect. What is important about this video? 1. You found Gold...always great to see. 2. You show the incredible contrast between the goldfields of the other side of the ranges and the goldfields in the rain forest. It highlights the great beauty and diversity we have here in Australia..and it makes me want to be there. One day I will. Thanks for sharing Cheers GL & HF & HD Ian.

Thanks for your comment Iroc - yes it is paradise, although the jungle has the wait-a-while and stinging tree for the unwary, but the creek lines are great to explore and are always cooler than the humid areas outside. Ours certainly is a country of contrasts as you know (compare Payne's Find to the NQ Rainforest, for example!) Happy Prospecting and Fossicking mate! Warren.
Great video bud
looks like a fun spot to play

Thanks for watching Jack - yes gold sure is one elusive beast, and then- sometimes - you can hit a rich pocket in the creek and you can win quite a bit of fine gold. Happy Prospecting mate! Warren.

I seriously thought you said shitting gold, and then I realised you said shedding lol. I love your videos. Never been travelling so I enjoy the destinations.
Nice video Warren. Your right, that area would have been difficult at best. Its neat how the ATX has the ability to change positions of the coil and arm length. Killing time like that would be a joy. GL & HH

Hey Warren Mate ~ ANY day spent in the rain forest is pure GOLD! Ironically we have a new " Team member", ex Cairns, who went to get lengths to explain why one should not even bother chasing the Gold ! ( Do you think he is trying reduce competition? LOL ) I am happy still finding gold else where in those other forms ~ LOL Cheers SS

Hello mate, thanks for all your informative vids. Is this filmed at the Jordan Gold Field?
Would you be willing to share with me the location of that creek? I live up that way and looking for new places to take my pan for a bit of fun prospecting... don't know many places up this way where I can find gold so any pointers would be much appreciated!
have you had a good luck for the source? how do you mean the ground is hot? does the machine have the option for a bigger coil? how many grams of gold? wasnt it worth using the detector more, Warren?
@NQExplorers
10 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching Ringo - my comment that the ground was 'hot' was that it has pockets of mineralization, which need to be ground balanced out, particularly on a VLF detector, or they will give a signal response. The gold was just a few small 'pickers' - nothing near a gram! And I am still looking for the source! Happy Prospecting mate! Warren.
