I should play 3.0? Started playing pickleball about a two months ago. Getting better quickly. I’m a 4.0 tennis player but pickleball is different. I don’t think it’s sandbagging when it will be my first pickleball tournament.

Speaking from analysis paralysis myself, just sign up for 3.0 if you're new to the game. I've been stressing about this to the point of not making a decision. I want to try a tournament that's coming up and I'm scared to register because I have no idea if I am a 3.0 or 3.5 etc... I just started playing Pickleball a month ago (no tennis experience but fairly quick to pickup and be competitive in most things I try) and I'm far and away better than everyone in my Clinic. Going to join a Recreation Ladder League where i have a sneaking suspicion I will probably be one of the best players with limited experience. At the same time I am new to the game and it will be my first tournament and ladder league so I'm just going to try the 3.0 and recreation levels and see how it goes. If I win it and anyone wants to complain that's their problem, I can feel good knowing I signed up with good intentions.

@@omeryang656 I was wrong. 3.0 pickleball level tournament is way too weak for a 4.0 tennis player. I’ve been playing a lot of pickleball and recently played in a non sanctioned tournament 3.0 level. I got second but there was no honor. I only got second because there were two intermediate level guys playing down as well. I’m definitely only playing 3.5 pickleball tournaments from now on. Till I win, then up to 4.0

Question - When serving the guy in blue drops the ball, lets it bounce, and then hits the ball off the bounce. Isn't that illegal? I thought you had to basically drop the ball and hit it out of the air on serves like the others are doing. Anybody know?

This is the gold medal match at one of the toughest pickleball tournaments in the country. Nobody on this court is 2.0/2.5 level. Perhaps the video doesn't capture spin and other aspects that make the game challenging.

"Good serve from the guy, keeps it very low". You've got to be kidding. arcs almost 3' above the net and lands about mid-court. Painful to watch as a 3.0 final with so many unforced errors. For example, rewatch 5.2.1 sequence of second game.

Tom. That's why it's 3.0. 3.0 is literally the lowest tier for tournaments. He is commentating the game appropriate to their skill level. This is how a lowest rank game should look. It's basically rec center level play. Wtf is wrong with you?
