Yeah. Iam from germany and latley saw this episode in german... god the new voice in german for goku in super... it let my years bleed, even tho he does a good job. I grew up with sean as gokus voice... to me he's the only real voice. Even tho I know there is the Japanese woman... I just dont like the Sounds the Japanese do in animes like the "kszh" wenn they are like in hurt.

Goku was actually using kaioken×10 against frieza in Namek saga. In fact, for a few seconds he went kaioken×20, But he was still nowhere near strong enough to beat frieza and that's why he needed super Saiyan.

Yup, even in abridged they mentioned "Why is Goku not using Kaioken?!" and King Kai says "He is....he has been this entire time..." as we watch Freeza destroy Goku. Also decades of people screaming "USE KAIOKEN AND SUPER SAIYAN!" Never to have it happen and was assumed incompatible like Super SaIyan and the Spirit Bomb (The Super Spirit Bomb Goku transforms after forming it to just push it) so it was mind blowing to see the two power ups combine.

Implimenting the kaioken like that was genius, really cool callback to early dbz :D

DBZA was awhile ago and also we were getting used to the world and TFS was also finding their groove those first couple seasons 😅🤗 so there is much we will have forgotten haha 😜

When I first watched I wasn’t 100% on Super but this episode made me change my mind a bit lol

The last time Goku used the Kaio Ken was against Frieza on Namek, where he was using the Kaio Ken ×20.

DBZA was really not at its peak when Goku pulled out the Kaioken against Vegeta, but it's honestly one of the most peak moments in all of Dragonball, Goku showing off his endurance and basically destroying his body to keep up with Vegeta who was stronger at the time. When he whipped out the Kaioken x4 (against King Kai's wishes as anything beyond x3 should have killed a mortal) multiplier he basically couldn't continue fighting and Vegeta essentially won the fight though he lost the beam struggle, only losing because Gohan and Krillin were there to back Goku up. Now he's using x10 combined with Super Saiyan Blue which is a ridiculous level of strength to begin with has shown how far he's come since then.

The Kaioken X10 scream is peak dub

This is honestly a pretty underrated moment. It caught me so much of guard when i saw it. Bringing back the kaioken and making it more relevant than z did was definetelly something that super did right.

I swear you keep giving me nostalgia from when me and my friends watched goku power up to super sayiin for the first time back on toonami and us all shouting like sean does. glad your getting to experience the fun of goku.

Kaio-what now? One of the sort-of plotholes people talk about is: both Picollo and Vegeta became good guys and both of them died after changing sides, but neither of them went to King Kai, so neither learnt Kaioken or Spirit Bomb.

A few problems with that, being a plot hole Piccolo became a good guy in the Saiyan saga, when he sacrificed himself for Gohan, the problem with that being a plot-hole a plot hole is inconsistency in the series that goes against the flow of logic, Piccolo and Vegeta not going to king Kai is not a plot hole, whatever happened to Vegeta when he died on Namek, he had most likely went to hell, If Vegeta and Piccolo were to learn the spirit bomb and Kaioken they wouldn’t have been as unique as they are as Goku is the one who was taught that technique.

Another problem with this is why would they learn those techniques when Hoku has already learnt them? Why would Vegeta go to a god and learn a technique of there’s that Kakarot already has?

@@godotrollmastergoku1239 I was thinking of when Vegeta died to Buu, not Frieza - he was much further along his good-guy arc by that point - but apparently only got as far as King Yama before being sent back. Also, technically this could also count for any of the techniques - why didn't he teach any of them Instant Transmission, for example, or later UI (no spoilers). And, of course, god-mode. From a real-world drama point, yes, you need uniqueness in their move sets, but from an in-universe point they'd want power.

Such a good episode! The smiles on your faces when Goku goes Blue Kaioken is exactly what Dragon Ball does to people. The giddy joy that comes with “Times 10!” Is what we live for! Sean Schemmel’s roar after landing that first punch onto solidifies the unadulterated hype! A great reaction from you guys! Some fun facts about Kaioken: Goku’s highest multiplier in official media was x20 against Frieza back on Namek. That was without Super Saiyan Blue on top of it, so you can imagine the strain on his body. Against Vegeta, he could only push it to x4 before being absolutely wrecked. The reason Goku has never combined Super Saiyan and Kaioken in the past is due to the effect Super Saiyan (Yellow hair) has on his mental state. It’s a transformation derived from anger and rage, meaning he never had the mental state needed to combine the two without wrecking his body. Here’s some simple hypothetical math on what KaioKen does to Goku’s power level when combined with _regular_ Super Saiyan. Super Saiyan multiplies your power level by x50. Goku uses a times 10 Kaioken multiplier here. 50 x 10 = 500. Goku would hypothetically be using x500 his base power. _Super Saiyan 3_ is a *x400* multiplier. If Goku was able to mix Super Saiyan with Kaioken back in the day, he’d be 1.25x stronger than his Super Saiyan 3 form using Super Saiyan 1. That’s nuts. Super Saiyan Blue however keeps most of Goku’s “Goku-ness” in tact. You can thank the divine nature of the transformation for that. Meaning, Goku had the brain power necessary to control his KI, and mix the two together for a massive boost. It was wonderful seeing the Kaioken again after so long. I’m glad they brought it back!

Toei did combine Kaioken and Super Saiyan on a filler episode. The other world tournament against Pikkon. Goku only did it for a second tho

That one was really a great moment beck then, cause i was thinking.. "What could it be?".. one second later.. "I got it!" and then in the Japanse version "Kai-o-ken!" = Fist of King Kai/Worldking"

Goku stopped using the kaio ken because of how risky it was he didnt need it after the super saiyan transformation. And super saiyan transformations are based on rage and your energy roaring so the kaioken which pushes past your limit is too risky. Like he said blue is based on control so it was perfect to use with the kaioken. As it keeps his energy from ripping him apart.

Disappointed that you heard "Kaio-ken!" and didn't follow up with "Kaio-what?" 😛 Made up with the great reaction accompanied by the doggo, though, haha. This is a really good episode, and it was great that they brought back the Kaio-ken and used it nicely with Goku's Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan [Blue] power. Did also like Goku rubbing off on Hit and forcing him to improve his technique mid-battle like that; their mutual respect they come away with is cool. This is definitely where Super starts to get into its stride some, especially with the next arc, so looking forward to that!

Watching Ken experience Dragon Ball with all those emotions we felt watching it as kids is kind of amazing lol

Would love to know what your favorite arc is so far!

1. As the episode explains, both Kaioken and Super Sayian put an insane strain on Goku's body and its the reason he never mixed them together up until now. I mean, if he could, it would have been *really* usefull against Cell and Buu lol Still mad Goku never taught the Kaioken to anyone else tho. Imagine Piccolo having that. 2. Something I don't think they focus on, but Hit is apparently over a *1000* years old and is still in his physical prime, so the fact that his technique never needed improving until now says a LOT about how beyond most mortals in U6 he is. Also, keep in mind, between them Hit is still arguibly the better fighter right now. Its just that Goku used *dumb brute force* to make his advantages meaningless 3. This episode marks the point where DBS gets *really* good (mostly). It still has some problems here and there, but lemme tell you, watching this week-to-week from here on was *awesome*

you need to rewatch dragon ball if you think they should learn kaioken goku not going to kill anybody doing that it would kill them instantly if they use the technique thats why king kai never taught it to someone ever but goku stupid enough to do it and make it work but for a price always and theres a reason he didnt use it on buu and cell he didnt think of kaioken with super saiyan till he was in the after life fighting pikkon which is canon akira wanted to add it all filler is canon akira add them because for better explanation or stuff he forgot to add to the manga but buu he barely fought him and on the kai world if he used it then it would mess him up completely and just hurt him in a instant since he wasnt dead thats why super saiyan 3 wasnt working so thats why they didnt add it to the manga because in akira eyes it doesnt make sense to stack super saiyan god with super saiyan with kaioken also since its still in the very early stages dude just got blue a few months ago thats why he used super saiyan god in the manga and switch between blue and god since god give him the speed he needs

Goku's one of those characters how many times do they punch you in your vital points you always come back stronger

So after gaining super sayian, they would almost exclusively train to get to a higher level, since each step was basically a multiplier. But Whis immediately saw that and wanted them to train in their base form, since that would translate to an higher power better. Now their bodies have become so strong that it is possible that Goku could even reach new levels of Kaioken and actually be able to sustain it with super sayian, which is something always theorized but never seen until now.

Before this episode came out, a lot of people weren't happy with Super. It's not exactly that it was bad, just that a lot of people had nostalgia to old DBZ and how cartoonish it was (not fair reasons imo). But this episode where they brought back Kaioken and Goku's roars got more older fans pulled in. They judged it harshly when it first came out and it ended up being pretty good. 😊

"KAIO-WHAT?!"

Kaioken is a powerful technique, the higher your power level the stronger the boost and the more damage your body takes, goku shouting was also the level of pain he's in, funny enough piccolo would be perfect for the technique due to his regeneration ability, his regeneration could nullify the damage from kaioken, giving him a powerful boost without taking damage from the power up

I actually really like kaio-ken x10 super Saiyan blue (Kaio-Blue?) because this is the starting point for when (without serious spoilers) Goku and Vegeta branching down different paths and not both having the same transformations. Vegeta doesn’t know Kaio-Ken and thus can’t go Kaio-blue (I’m making it a thing) but does attain a new level of his own. This continues to the present as well.

If I remember correctly the biggest we have seen Goku go with Kaioken was x20 in official Dragon Ball Z. Though its something completely different when he combines it with already being Super Saiyan. We never saw him be able to do that with traditional Super Saiyan. But like Goku said, because Super Saiyan Blue is about harnessing power from being in total control of your energy, this is something new he can do now. Also the lemon toy was always out of frame when you were talking about it. I demand to see it!

13:18 This is an Interesting comparison because many fitness influencers I've seen on KZread would bring up how Dragon Ball was one of the main reasons they started working out in the first place. My friends that work out say dragon ball inspired them to lift. I'm a pretty athletic person myself and Dragon Ball definitely inspired me. There's just something about watching Goku & Vegeta training that really motivates you.

Damn next is purpV arc which suck I really want to see their reaction to that last episode of PV arc and to see their react to Black arc

Are you gonna go back to watch OG Dragon Ball after Super is over? . Anyway this is a fun arc, the next arc is something different but indeed a good one (it has a more serious tone let's just say that) and the one after that (the final arc) is the longest in Super and you'll see episodes just as good as this one (or even better) . Can't wait.

Hit is one of the few characters in Dragon Ball that doesn't have a transformation which makes him very unique. He doesn't hide his "true power" like most characters, literally what you see is what you get from Hit. If he wants to win he has to improve his technique or be more creative with how he uses his powers.

It's one of the few moments goku wasn't brain dead

Goku: I can just use a split-second decision to second guess my decisions and change what I'm doing in the middle of a fight to outmaneuver your Time Skip. Hit: Alright, then I'll just use a split-second decision to second guess _my_ decisions and change what _I'm_ doing. Goku: Wait, that's illegal. Yeah, sorry, but this is where DBS really started laying on the plot bullshit in my opinion. On top of that, if Hit is really skipping time, then Goku's power level should be absolutely irrelevant. No matter how fast Goku becomes, Hit should still be moving instantaneously to him, so the Kaioken should've just been a waste of stamina.

In dragon ball hax abilities can be overcome by ki. If your ki is stronger whatever hax you may have is essentially irrelevant. A lot of people got this fight wrong and thought goku was just faster than time, which he wasn't, even though whis explained otherwise.

@@Auron1Roxas2 Yes, I'm well aware how DBZ "logic" regarding ki works; I'm merely pointing out that it was taken to an absurd level here. With Guldo's Freeze Time, they at least had the decency to make everyone susceptible to it all the time. Krillin and Gohan were fast enough that they could almost reach Guldo before he could hold his breath. Vegeta was simply faster and could kill Guldo before he could initiate the freeze. That's fair. Goku just straight up ignoring the Time Skip because 'his power level is over 9000' is not. Once Hit starts the Time Skip, Goku should be absolutely helpless regardless of his power level.
