Good work. I m a Shotokan karatéka and a judoka. I make some work like you do. Here it is drill in ippon kumite. Next step is to work take down on geaku zuki attack, or hook attack. It changes everything , because you have not the good foot on the side of the punch, and this is a problem to make the throw. Have you experience in that or a video in that ? I would be very interested in how you manage it and if we found the same solution.

These are very good, but I guess the next step would be pressure test them on controlled sparring.

Most of these are pretty legit, but there is some aikido-esq rolling into the throw and falling, rather than actually being thrown. But for the most part, these are real, legit throws.

@@kakuto435 Yeah, that's true. I assume the reason for that is because the technique is meant to be executed much faster. But then why not just do it faster. 😂

A straight punch is the most effective technique but that would make for a very boring Martial Art. I trained for years on heavy bags, makiwara, pads etc just to knock people out or incapacitate them but I enjoyed the rest of my martial arts journey, the fancy moves, throws, and locks but I knew if it came to the bare bones of self-defense I had the basics ready to go. Never underestimate these techniques, they do work it's not the style its the man and his character.

I could only watch half of the video. Most of the techniques were poorly executed, especially the strikes leading to the takedown. Additionally, if you can’t do it live with someone other than your training partner (who is just standing there taking it), it’s useless.

@@gojuryukarate157 Taking Shotokan Karate in short bursts during my youth I could never find fulfilment with what I was learning because they tended to be very sport oriented schools.. but Goju Ryu seems like a different animal entirely 😎 perhaps @Shichi Dan needs a more hands on experience with your “poorly executed techniques” 😂

Thankyou....always room for improvement of course...I was always taught that in goju Ryu it's not how the technique looks...but how it feels. Having g seen endless poor techniques send people to hospital all over the world late on a Friday night for example. I will endeavor to do better 🙏🏼
