So Tom, the one who they thought hasn’t come to the surface, did come back to the surface and because they left Tom, he thought they died so that same day in a year he put crosses in memory of them so basically the friends thought he was dead but he was alive and Tom thought they were dead but they weren’t. And the real question is *who just leaves the beach when you think your friend is dead?*

My only confusion of this is, if both parties thought each other where dead but continued liveing normally(or as normally as they could) how did they never walk or spot each other in public Like their friends so they have to live somewhere near the same town/city, or have sometype of place they all liked going too and wouldnt they have called the others family(families) and tell them but the family(families) would have been able to clear things @-@ this isnt hate im just confused on that one part

1. When Tom got back no one was there and he waited and waited but it was too long so he thought his friends were dead so he made the five crosses for his friends grave. And it was their one year anniversary when “his friends died” so Tom went back to that place and stand there being sentimental. 2. When his friends jumped they all died and their body washed up on the shore. Tom saw their body’s and made 5 graves. One year later their ghost returned to that same spot and saw him.

Ok, Tom resurfaced near the very edge of the cliff when everyone jumped in and he went up to the top and assumed the others died, same with the others, and Tom set up 5 crosses for his 5 perished friends, and he came back to pray for them on the 1 year anniversary

First friend swam back up to see nobody there so he left thinking they left as well. When the friends also swam up by the time he left, they called it quits. The first friend who dived in and accused dead, thought that his friends we're the dead ones. He put those crosses meaning they're caskets since he thought they drowned. Thus, he was sitting there celebrating his anniversary of his friends.

@Tian Lu but... That ... doesn't make sense. This whole story is dumb. No one alerted the "missing" friends' parents? No one called 911? Their parents didn't care that they were missing? There was no missing persons search? These friends didn't run into one another or anyone who interacted with them within a year's time?

Tom actually did come back out and the friends dove in, all of them actually drowned and were never discovered that's why no inspection was included in the story they lived their lives as ghosts thinking everything is normal and then see Tom paying his respects to his ceased friends

His friends left and he was still alive and thought they must’ve drown while looking for them and a year later he had put 5 crosses to represent the 5 other friends he thought had drown. OR- He DID die and beach was cursed and when the 5 friends came back a year later the 5 crosses represented the 5 friends who were there on their friends dying day and/or they were gonna die next.

my theory is that this is a common mistake of misunderstanding, let me explain - the dive guy's friends left correct? after they left it is revealed that dive guy **didn't** drown, and he assumed his friends **did** like they assumed that **he** drowned, he then wanted to place crosses in memorial of his friends who he had originaly presumed to be *dead*

Alright so, When they said "let's go and move on with our lives" he really did resurface but they never saw him so they left.On the day of his death they went back seeing him with 5 crosses(remember there is 6 friends at the beginning).He did actually resurface but most likely in a blind spot of their eye or under a rock because his friends left he thought they died but none died

"Tom" didn't die the friends just didn't see him come back up a different way so while the friends though that "Tom" was dead "Tom" fought that the friends were dead. Five crosses = five friends.

When Tom did not come up he was saying how long he could hold his breath under the water then his friend jumped and they all died to hitting rocks but when they came back up they had left their bodies in the water and when they came back to see The place where they think Tom died he was there for the one-year anniversary of one off of his five friends died and they were just ghost going to check out tom’s death

That's what I think to, the friend jumped in, died but didn't know it and left thinking Tom died and when they came back they saw Tom alive and well because they had been loving in their own world after they died and when they saw Tom and their graves they snapped out of it and they probably moved on

Tom actually could have drowned or been pulled down by a predator but the years later he was standing there staring at his friends with the crosses and trying to summon satan and make satan kill them for forgeting him

Tom came back to the water but the friends already left so he thought that they had all died looking for him. That should be on the same day so it’s also the “anniversary”. He went to visit the crosses he made and there they are, they meet again.

Tom maybe killed the rest of his friends by drowning him because Tom didn’t get saved

I can solve that mystery if you believe in the paranormal, and/or alternate parallel dimensions- Well, I assume that when the 5 realized their friend didn't resurface, he resurfaced in another opposite parallel dimension, while the 5 were still in the OG dimension(even though the one we are in is _most likely_ NOT the og). The five assume he is dead, while the single guy must've assumed that the other five jumped in after him and died, while he was just lucky. The fact that there is an *missing friend* "anniversary" kinda makes me sick. Not because is not good to remember your friends, it's because the word "anniversary" makes you think of a party, a happy party.
