Aidan Hryc Top 5 will cause obvz a lot of opinions and arguments, but you simply cannot put mario in a top 5 of all time list, he’s absolutely amazing no doubt but everything he can do There’s people like Mike portnoy or Neil pert who can do the exact same thing and better Mike portnoy technically is probably the best drummer is the world possibly not any more defiantly over the last 20 years that’s based on technical skill the guy does stuff with one hand or foot others can’t do with two Neil pert has been one the top drummer in the world since the late 70s listen to his work on 1981s ‘moving pictures’ And then you have jazz drummers like buddy rich who again a top top drummer in a lot of opinions the best ever to play the drum kit he influenced Neil pert. And then there’s John bonham Listen to money dick that was done in the 60’s ! There’s many more who are amazing as well , of course mario is amazing at what he does But there’s others who can top him I think he is defiantly one of the best metal drummers there is, leagues above people like joey joedison of slipknot, who a lot of people think is the best ever, That’s my opinion anyway hope you learn mate

IMHO most people go nuts if you play fast double bass, but don't really care about that super crazy flam paragopolis in 13/8 that you pulled off. The people that care about the technical stuff aren't going to make any noise at all; They are going to be silently taking in the performance. If you just play fast, people are like "whoa, that was so intense!" Obviously that requires build to have effect, and Mario does that so damn well.
