I'm SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HAPPY you liked it! :D They are very aware of the heaviness of their music and they are using it masterfully. They're one of the best metal bands of the last decades, with outstanding performances live! They have a wild range of songs since they started as a death metal band 20+ years ago and became more progressive (with cleaner vocals) as they got older. If you liked Flying Whales though, there's a high chance that you'll like most of their work. As for the growling vocals - I understand where you are coming from. I was like that too :P. It can definitely sound like just screaming, but when you listen more and more you start to appreciate the little details that make it sound so good. Especially from someone like Joe (Gojira vocalist) who can actually carry a melody with his growls. If you really want to do more, I think you will love their latest album, Fortitude. It carries a beautiful message of empowerment to all people. I recommend Amazonia or Another World, both have official videos on youtube. Take care!

They have a massive sound live, like they couldn't possibly be too loud, not enough volume if anything

The drummer (Mario, brother of the singer Joe) is definitely one of the best drummers in Metal these days. Glad you liked this, hope to see you dive deeper into their music !

Dominica is slowly turning into a metalhead xD gojira is incredible, the best metal band we have now, check out literally ANY song from the live at red rocks show, it is something from another world, it feels more like a spiritual trip than a metal concert

Growling is like coffee. Getting started as a listener, it might overwhelm you, but getting more and more used to it, you will learn to appreciate the nuances and feel the rush from it's extreme expression.

Gojira - Born For One Thing. Although, all of their albums are just amazing.

I often say that it's because i couldn't live without, that it's called Death Metal. About Growling, it is something like wine, it's wit time that the appreciation can take place. Death Metal have also so many subgenres (Gojira: Progressive, Groove & Post-Metal). The growling vocals (sometimes also mixt with clean vocals) is what make them all Death Metal. Of Course some bands are really brutal, but some other bands can be so melodic that there music help me to relax.

Silvera, The Heaviest Matter of the Universe, The Art of Dying, L'enfant Sauvage, Oroborus.. they are one of the most important bands of this generation. Unreal talent with something to say

I comment before I even wachted your reaction as it is also for me the first time listening to this song of this band. I am really courios as there are songs of them that are really enjoyable and "easy to listen to" and there are others that I heard one time and maybe not a second time. One of my favourite songs of them is "Born In Winter". To me a master piece. So lets find out about this song. 🙂

Great band! Seen them live and they are spectacular: great musicians, supremely heavy but also melodic and tasteful. This is one of my favourite Gojira tracks.

​@@sartian a lot of credit goes to the sound production, this gig has sounds as good as for example Opeth's at Red Rocks Amphitheatre

This band is AWESOME livee!! I saw them on 2018 with Deep Purple, Scorpions, Megadeth, Ozzy Osbourne, Marilyn Manson and Judas Priest on a Metal Festival in México City :)

Gojira opening for those bands kept them on their toes for sure, the opening band can set the overall tone and energy for such a large concert, if they are good enough, and Gojira must have been chosen for those reasons, and they're probably cool guys overall

@@m.ericwatson968 Gojira plays on 4.00 pm ....Yes there was the HELL AND HEAVEN FESTIVAL on México City 2018, there was 2 days...another bands play too: Testament, Tankard, Saxon, GWAR and Jack Black and his band!

Go see them live if you ever get a chance. They are incredible.

"Stranded" is my favourite Gojira song and Pol'and'rock live is the best version of the song ever. I was living under a rock because I just discovered the band a few months ago, now I can say they are really good. Glad you reacted to them!

Gojira are a great metal band, wouldn't say they are death metal but then again they do have elements of death metal, and that name belies what that genre of metal is, it's actually groove oriented and generally progressive, technical and melodic while remaining easy to follow along with so don't let that title turn you away, some death metal bands are great fun to listen to; but the lyrics can get buried in the vocal style

They used to be death metal for sure, Terra Incognita? 100% death metal. From mars to sirus? There are definitely some death metal songs, for example, In the wilderness is pure death metal, also, “Backbone”.
