CLONE *This song is about individuality, and how modern society encourages and forces humans to all behave the same way, and they attempt to make it seem like its for the progress and good of mankind but it’s actually killing the soul and human creativity in the process.* *If you really want to stretch it, it could possibly be a comment on communism, as in communist theory there is a heavy emphasis on equality, conformity and collectivism, everyone works for each other to move the country and everyone else forward, but in most communist countries, this has resulted in art forms being censored and all forms of protest silenced. Again this is a big stretch* *It doesn’t critique communism specifically, but does simply by the nature of its message of anti-collectivism/blind conformity.* every step you take is to the end chaos, duplicate the human slaves mother Nature so far away: Why? perfect is the race you dream *Corporatism breeds sheep, people become slaves to meaningless labor; it is a kind of slavery to attempt universal conformation and will inevitably result in such* *We have become so distant from the natural world, why?* *Perfection is a false ideal with a stranglehold on society; a perfect society (utopianism) or race of men is the wrong goal and is in fact not attainable.* right now, I make my choice perfection you fake is not the soul, not a genetic code you fools, you ignoramuses *Here, the narrator is deciding to be his own person, and make his choice to be different than what society wants him to be. “Perfection you fake is not” references social media, photoshop, models etc. all things that attempt to be perfect through faking it.* *Pretty sure it is not a reference to social media since this song was first published on a demo album called Saturate in 1998.* hatchery, the newborn to celebrate ashes to ashes, I see respect in the dust life is so perfect *Life, the birth of life is a cause for great gratitude and celebration* *Life is a cycle, I respect the past and all those who are now gone, but ash* *Life, in and of itself is a beautiful mystery; it does not need perfecting, not from man anyway* now for the weak an abortion celebrate perfection that grows the flesh, a gift of science the soul a fault of a god *The “weak” or unenlightened die a premature death, in fact dying before they ever truly live* *Perfection is not an ideal which should represent a finished form, perfection should be viewed instead as one who continually grows, evolves, changes, adapts* *The soul, our conscious nature is a glitch in the system, an “error” which makes us different* life on its way to the state of fire from the cold taste of steel light embraces the dark, lava flowing free and the cradle is... *“steel” could be a reference to modern architecture/emotionless utilitarianism which those buildings represent* *The good (of men?) embraces the evil and wickedness (lava) roams free, causing destruction* forgot the reasons why we all lie so pale on the playground of cold mother Nature is at saturation point and the cradle is falling down... *nature is at its end in terms of the damage being done to it (presumably by man), it cannot take much more* *That which births life itself (the planet, nature) is in danger* right now, I make my choice perfection you fake is not the soul, not a genetic code you fools, you ignoramuses *making a conscious decision to stand against the mass of men* *Any claim to or ideal of perfection is inauthentic, ultimately fake and untrue* *People are more than a series numbers, a genetic code. We have souls, we feel, experience, desire.* *The sheep, the followers of the status quo, the mass of men, are ignorant and misguided*

i can see the appeal of extended range guitar (more opportunity for odd tuning, more notes reach) but if someone solely uses it for "muh breakdownz 01000101" you wasted a finely crafted guitar and you are stupid shithead because you can use downtuned heavy gauge strings or god forbid, bass gauge on 6 string with same effect, i know this is oversimplifying but you know what i'm talking about

Guy Mann exactly. we dont want nu metal to return
I would mash so hard to this song I would die before the song was over.
That break down is the perfect use of clean and dirty vocals. So powerful, even live. Perfect use of vocal delay too... Not to mention the slam that comes after.....
All of Clone's Riffs are Sooooooo fuckin MEAN!!!! their like huge swarms of angry africanized killer bees, I fuckin love it!!!!

I was lucky enough to find a used copy of Terra Incognita in my local music store. They seriously should put this album back in print. It's still by far their best.

These "djent" guys could learn a thing or two from these dudes. This literally just made me grit my teeth it's so heavy.
I'm so glad I found this yesterday. This was always my favorite song from the band.
now I've heard some heavy ass music in my life, Brutal Truth, Napalm Death, Mortician, Brujeria, but this tops them all, deathcore and djent bands have something to look up to and know they could never make music as heavy, technical, or plain awesome as Gojira, props to them

I think Gojira has likely the most distinct sound of any band I've ever listened to. The moment Joe opens his mouth, or rips that guitar, or when Mario opens up on his kit, I IMMEDIATELY know it's them. And I fckin love them 🤣🤣💪🏻💪🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
