Here is the earplugs debate in a nutshell: You can hear it perfectly (without earplugs) once, and then maybe never hear anything right again. A lot of us back in the 70's and 80's decided to take that bet. It took me literally a month to recover from a Metallica concert in Dallas in 1993.

With earplugs I let my ears tell me. If I’m too close or the mix isn’t right (usually too much guitar) I’ll pop plugs in. I keep a set of eargasm plugs on my keychain and just pop them in when needed. Bands that are loud just for the sake of loud I always pop in the plugs. It also help to filter out things with certain bands and adds clarity. As a drummer I actually use them live and it helps me hear the guitar/bass/vocs as a whole and cuts down on the clutter of on stage audio!

I always interpreted that born in winter referred to life starting in the bitter cold of the vacuum of space. Especially with the Big Bang reference. And of course also referred to the harsh struggles and suffering of life. I always felt this song carried the spirit or “essence” of the will to live. Even before reading the lyrics and understanding context just the initial reaction to the sound of this song grabs you and you feel it in your soul. At least that was my experience.

Hey Ryan and Georges. I enjoy a lot your reactions. I'm a 47 years old metal fan (but not just metal 😉)and it's always a pleasure to see you discover new stuff. For this song I really would like to be able to hear it for the first time again. I'm French and it's a shame to see how underrated Gojira aree in their own country. I'll see them next month, can't wait 🤘. Greetings guys, keep it up.

One of my favorites and I'm glad you listened to it, I think I said something about listening to this song a few years ago >.> I still think you guys should do some Primus. The bassist was rejected by Metallica because "He was too talented to be with them and needed to start his own band" I don't know what everyone else may say but, My Name Is Mud, Too Many Puppies or Wynona's Big Brown Beaver

I'd like to correct this order for the way it would connect with both of you. I get it, my best friend is the same way and I the same, you have to find the one song, beat, line, etc. etc. that makes you want to or open to the idea of a band or group, Wynona's Big Brown Beaver or Too Many Puppies. We had those two in our top three of the band and the other two odd balls were, My Name is Mud (Mine) John the Fisherman (His). Both recommended but I don't think they will be a 'I want to add this to the list forever and will enjoy every time no matter the day I've had, it will be better. Greatest bassist of all time and any bassist would be honored to be compared.

Love seeing channels go from "wtf is this idk if I like it" to "Gojira is one of the greatest bands on earth". Everyone goes through the weird phase of being so blown away and confused that you have to take it in and enjoy it over and over to finally get it lol. Great reviews I've seen almost every Gojira reaction on KZread haha. Interesting watching people experience it for the first time especially lol.

Said it once, gonna say it again: you guys have the coolest Gojira (and Tool) reaction on the tube, George always comes with the most interesting insights about the music. I agree that this is one of their best songs.

Seems very weird, but my best friend since first grade, Billy, showed me this song and I fell in love with the band IMMEDIATELY. Then I got into the band and was at a loss for words. It’s such a weird song to get into them with but it happened and I do not regret it for a millisecond. Gojira needs to go back to the OG ways such as The Link/pre-2010 Gojira.

Theres even a drum playthrough thats vocal less that I would be curious if George likes more or less than the original. Have a good one guys!

just when the channel starts to loose me a little you drop something like this :D if i can get on my soapbox for a min, what makes a reaction video great for me is when its a genuine first time listen and its a perfect suggestion for the tastes of the reviewer, you get something like this. quality over quantity, not whats the most popular, trust the suggestions from those that have hit home runs with you before. ok having said all that, i think you guys would also freak out on "Ladylike" by Big Wreck, its not heavy but it doesn't need to be. thanks guys.
