This is from an old 8mm home movie film taken in 1968 of the approach to the Douglas MacArthur Bridge to Belle Isle in Detroit,MI. The Jefferson ave tunnel entrance seen in this film is long gone.

This is priceless to me. I can't believe I found this. Brings back childhood memories of excitement when the car would emerge from the darkness of the tunnel to the bright sunlight and beautiful river views. Miss those days. Thank you for uploading.
I remember now we used blow horn when I was a kid. I couldn't remember it for nothing now I see the video. Thank you good memories.

The sign said---"DON'T BLOW YOUR HORN'. haha We used to also.
For someone born in the early 90s, this is amazing to find! I would’ve never imagined. Very cool.
I Remember going u.under that Bridge the good ole days
That's the way I remember it and sometimes there were Elephants under the bridge
Excellent video, thank you for sharing.
Aww yes. Blowing those car horns. I had almost forgotten , that was so long ago when we were young. Great memories 😊
Remember this well. And don't forget it was expected that you blow your car horn as you passed through the tunnel.

Even though a big sign said: "DO NOT SOUND HORN'! Why did they put that sign there?
I believe that tunnel was removed before 1987. It happened in the late 70's

Coleman Young idea...
My dad use to honk the horn all the way through it -always scared the heck out of me
The underpass was removed in 1986.
This is classic, I couldn't find one photo to confirm this with friends who didn't believe me, but now I've got proof. thx this is pure Detroit history.
I have been discussing this lately and was pleased to find it this form thru MegaPlayme
I grew up there
I couldn’t tell if the car had a motor or the camera!
OMG it did take me over an hour or so to find something to prove to my little goddaughter that this to know existed. Smh
I had no idea this ever existed. What happened to it?
Real cars on a real highway in a real city. Sound the horn the road is yours.
I don't think we honked, but my brother could give this piercing whistle! It still reverberates! LOL
I remember this. I also remember coming off the Ambassador bridge when we'd drive through Detroit on the way to my sister's house when I was a kid - and there wasn't a direct link to 75 yet, so you'd have to drive a few blocks through the hood. I was always scared shitless because I thought the black people wanted to kill me. But now that I've grown up, I've realized that I was absolutely right. They did want to kill me.

@@MrFullService If you're coming at me for my comment but conveniently ignored the poster that I've reply to.. Then you're either a racists idiot or one of his relatives!? I stand by my comment 😉
