I wonder whether there is much of a difference, depending upon whether one goes from here in England to there in the `States in search of the new, or from there to here in search for the old. Anyone with a wonderlust (which cured me ) has to see both cities.

The tayto crisps in the UK are so gross 😷 they taste so different to the Irish ones it’s so sad. Irish who moved to Scotland here 👋

I hate that bloody trans - Atlantic flight back to the old world, in the night. `Not so bad going to New York since the flights are mostly dalight flights. I took my girlfriend to Mexico City ( a strange and dangerous place to take a girlfriend, one may argue.... ). It was on a BA 747:400 Boeing jet. The plane was full and it was a 12 hour flight. When we arrived at Mexico City Airport and the doors were opened, the smell was appalling. Worse than that : I soon realized that I wasn`t helping. After going through the airport I dropped my suitcase, opened it and reached for some deodorant and kept my jolly old fingers crossed that few would notice. But if we ourselves notice, others are bound to. `Couldn`t wait to get to the hotel and under a shower. Guinness ? I can only drink that stuff in a pub across the road from the brewery in Dublin. I can taste every mile Guinness travels, and it doen`t get better. A few years ago I and a group of my friends were in an underground pub in the city of Santiago de Compostela ( the city of " St James of the Field of Stars" ) in Galicia, Spain. We were encouraged to try one of their `well known` spirits called grappa, which turned up to be rather potent. In fact after we tasted it we decided to purchase some whiskey and more grappa. We threw the whiskey over a table and set a match to it - which became promptly extinguished. Not the grappa ! Sure enough, it was flammable. `Lady experiences what seems like a movie set in London. Imagine how we feel when going to NYC. In fact, from my experience the time I went there I felt as if I`d already been there a hundred times before..... it`s New York City, it Metropolis, it`s Gotham City. `So glad I went though.
