Hi Bentley I've heard people in the States when watching KZread keep mentioning swaps, but was never sure just how they work, or what we all should take to these events, but listening to your video it is really about common sense and being prepared. So my question is when you bring in any fish how long do you keep them in your quarantine tank, and do you treat them for any diseases just as a precaution? Paul from the UK

So some people will isolate their fish and fast them. But I don't know too many people that pre-medicate their fish. When you're bringing fish in from a swap, I would isolate them bare minimum 2 weeks. You don't necessarily have to use medication right away, but just monitor them. A month is a little safer if you want to play it with more caution.

Question: how to transport fish home from a swap/auction if traveling for 3 days? Should I try or just not get fish? I did a 2 day trip last year and I opened all the bags at my overnight stop and tied them again the next morning. Not sure if that was smart but it seemed like a good idea. Maybe not needed as fish are transported for more days commonly to reach LFS I guess? I didn't have prime, but even if I did, is it really ok to put a drop in such a small bag of fish? Set the room's temp to 78 since I didn't have any cold-loving fish and I had no heating pads - will totally get some to take to the cooler lid for my next trip. Any other ways to handle fish when traveling by car for a few days? Great topic thank you! I've bought fish and plants at 3 swaps/auctions so far and just love love love the quality of fish and the variety of plants I've been able to purchase. I look forward to offering some of my plant at an auction maybe this fall. Maybe some fish too if my Staeck endlers act like typical endlers.

What I would do in that case is keep a small container or two, dechlorinator, an easy way to check temp and make the bags easy to open and reseal. Do water changes each day at similar temp to keep the ammonia down and oxygenation

I started with local stores and FB groups for my local area. Usually from there you can find good resources on any local events or drivable events, clubs, etc
