exactly carpet cuts down on the sound otherwise it would really be blasting and it does hide dirt and saves on people falling

It's easier to slip and fall on hardwood than it is on carpet. People spill drinks, as well as some that have bathroom accidents. This would cause more slip and falls which would open up the casinos to different potential lawsuits. Carpets are a safer option.

My opinion is that they have carpet to make it feel comfortable for us to stay longer, for example like being home! 😉

In the gaming area, broadloom is still preferred over hard surfaces for a number of reasons. The carpet installation absorbs sound, and because of high traffic and the placement and repositioning of heavy slot machines, it’s better to use broadloom rather than a hard surface that will be partially hidden by the machines and scratched when the machines are moved. In addition, most resorts run conduits under the gaming area to hide cables and electrical wires.

Hardwood floors are harder to maintain than carpets. Also, it would be very noisy with high heels walking on them.

The reason for the carpet is the liability for older and regular patrons due to slipping sliding on regular hardwood flooring

My guess is that non carpeted floors could be a safety hazard. Spilled drinks etc people could slip and fall

Speaking of casino carpets, I used to play in a casino (since closed) in Sarnia, Canada, that was on the St. Clair River, whose carpets featured little round, gold, circles that looked very much like the quarter coins that I was using. If you dropped a coin on the floor, you almost had to get down on your hands and knees to find it.

Carpets are a sound damper. Casinos are already loud, imagine all that echoing off a hard floor to hard walls. Also the busy patterns help hide spills and keep people's eyes upward, on the games and not at the floor.

Casinos have “busy” carpet designs because gaming floor engineers have proven that it makes people look up and not at the floor which encourages players to see a machine they want to play…

I have NEVER had a static shock in a casino. Of course I also pick my feet up when I walk.

On my last getaway with the Mrs, I kept my bets under $2 bucks and took home more than we spent for the whole trip. It was a very pleasant surprise. I got to put a little something away for another trip.

Had the same experience with Frankenstein. Bunch of power ups that never hits, bunch of “it’s alive” with no Frankenstein stein heads, bonuses that pay at most half of what is lost, and didn’t even know about the fire heads. However, was still fun testing it out on low roll. Prolly won’t be playing it again.

Casinos generate a lot of loud noise. If all the surfaces in the room were hard, that noise would be amplified even more as there would be nothing to help absorb it.

Carpet is definatly there to prevent slip and falls its also easier and cheaper to replace high trafic areas that's why almost all casinos clean there carpets everyday to prevent dirt building up in those high trafic areas that's what wears carpets

I actually have an answer to the carpet question you have, when the casinos got carpet it was to help the sound and any spillage and hides the power outlets and cords to the machines, but then they were having problems pushing the carts of change on the carpet because of the weight of all the nickels etc. this was before your time like 15 y ago that's when most went to tickets only besides making counting and bookkeeping easier. But if you notice the design of the carpet is butt-ass ugly, and the design is to keep people from finding money someone may drop but the security and staff know what to look for, so when someone on the cams sees a 20 on the carpet they send an employee over to pick it up. Also, I won't tell you the casino but one time they had a guest whose feet smelled so bad after he left they had to shampoo the carpeting, I know this because he was sitting next to me and I couldn't take it and moved to another machine. Idk if what I told you stands true to all casinos but I asked and these were the answers I was given from a floor manager.

Old Vegas so rich and elegant the chandeliers and beautiful plush carpeting is casino class. Stop and notice when you go in the casinos every casino is different the carpeting. I personally have never got shocked so you must drag your feet. And that's why casinos have carpeting and this old school hope it always stays that way. Plus there's lots of people that wear high heels especially in Vegas and it's harder to walk on slippery hardwood floors than carpeting with stilettos
