Fun fact: While never said in the movie, it's pretty much confirmed that Shimo causing the Ice Age is what ended up freezing Ghidorah in Antarctica. She likely caused it while Godzilla and Ghidorah were battling and either she was a participant or farther away. Also a sad theory is that the crystal on Skar King's whip came from Shimo's offspring that the Skar King killed. The crystal is likely meant for the offspring to vibrate in order to alert the mother it's in danger which causes the pain in order to get Shimo's attention.

Just wanted to point out…the show monarch deals with axis mundi which is BETWEEN earth and hollow earth, time dilation only occurs in axis mundi, not hollow earth itself

I thought Godzilla attacked Kong in Egypt because he knew an attack by the apes was coming and then the timing of Kong resurfacing and seemingly challenging him again made Godzilla think that he'd sided with Scar King. And Mothra saving Kong from him is what made him realize what was actually happening. Maybe I'm wrong..

@@davidsavage5630 Actually, no. Godzilla didn't want Kong to be in his territory, and the reason he went after Kong was because Kong actually used the Alpha Call to challenge him unintentionally, which of course Godzilla took as a challenge.

Fun fact: The in Universe reason Godzilla Sleeps in the Colosseum is because it reminds him of his old home The Underwater Temple in Godzilla King of the Monsters (2019) which was destroyed during his resurrection in the movie.

Im 30 and have been watching Godzilla since I was 5 with my dad. He loved Godzilla so much! He passed away 5 years ago, but I know he would’ve loved this movie! Awesome reaction like always guys!

Condolences on your dad passing. I'm 32 and have been watching since I was 4 or 5. While my dad didn't watch them with me a lot he did go out of his way to record them every Saturday night when sci fi had it's monster movie Saturdays. We both were very lucky in having those experiences with our parents.

This is the Hollywood big budget version with modern technology of classic campy Showa era Toho, and I absolutely loved it. And I'm saying this as someone who thinks Godzilla Minus One is one of the best films ever made. I want the MonsterVerse to go on forever, can't get enough of this!

Kong, Godzilla, Mothra, Suko, Shimo altogether equals a perfect team of titans‼️🦍🦖🦋

46:37 felt like Vegeta's Final Flash moment. And the pink theme with Godzilla feels like they are replicating Godzilla 2000, the pink dorsals and green skin.

Nah. Mothra always leaves an egg right before she dies. And at the end of KoTM, a Mothra egg was found in the Hollow Earth. Pretty sure the GxK Mothra came from that egg.

on KOTM is also original, Mothra can be only one, she can transfer her memories to her offspring, if there's 2 egg hatched at the same time, only one can be Mothra, other one dies immediately.

I was NOT expecting Kong to use Baby Weapon! 32:50 - I could be wrong, but I think I read somewhere that this Monster - Shimo - helped Godzilla to freeze Ghidorah. The reason why he was Frozen in the King of the Monsters.

Finally a guy who knows his stuff about the monsterverse and I know all about the monsterverse lore. Also, the Skar King is one of my favorite villains of the monsterverse.

Shimo An ancient and legendary Titan whose ability to control ice caused the Last Ice Age. Her raw power hint she is stronger than Godzilla but in some instances his speed and atomic breath still give him the edge

Funny thing is the young ape is as big as Kong was on Skull Island, that’s how much bigger Kong has grown since he left the island. Mothra is constantly reborn and there are always two eggs in waiting that the Mothra lays before battle, just in case.

Shimo is the largest land-based titan that has appeared on screen in the Monsterverse movies so far. Even though she spends most of her time on all fours, she can also stand on two legs, a bit like a Komodo Dragon. She is bigger even than Ghidorah. Also, according to the special effects people who worked on the film, she was the hardest monster they've ever had to create due to how much detail went into it.

I love jake, seems like me whenever my friends have questions about things things they don't know about and I immediately get them answers!!😂

Godzilla really does seem to operate on the three strikes rule. Scylla was on that third strike. And Kong apparently was too in Egypt. I might be wrong but I figured Godzilla attacked Kong in Egypt because he knew a problem with the apes was coming and the timing of Kong appearing to challenge him again made Godzilla think that Kong had allied himself with Scar King. And it wasn't until Mothra intervened that he realized Kong was actually OPPOSING Scar King. This is why I don't think Godzilla and Kong will fight again. I think they finally understand each other..

idk why but i have a weird theory that they built the coliseum specifically for godzilla back in the day 😭

I love this movie so much. Its such an example of 'fuck it, we ball'. Lets just make a movie as fun as possible with its premise, while also doing an amazing job at doing it. The long scenes without dialogue with the monsters still have great story telling, the characters in this movie are actually entertaining and interesting as they buy into their own premise without a knowing wink of 'look how absurd this is'. Then they go 'cause its cool lets have them suplex each other' and everyone says 'hell yeah'.

Classic Monster fighting movie. Shimo being the one to freeze Skar King to death was fitting.

3:00 think about how big those dogs must be, and that there’s an entire swarm of them! Or even Skar King’s entire empire. If he forced all his people to March on the surface world it’d be a wrap for humanity

In my experience, "Dozilla" is usually a name for ungraceful parodies of Godzilla coming from the Japanese word "Doji" meaning klutz or or a clumsy person, like Clodzilla from Yo-kai Watch whose Japanese is "Dojira," and is known for being very clumsy, and I also think this is used in Pani Poni (namely the manga) to describe the character Yuzuko Kurusu in her Kaiju cosplay as she falls in a clumsy manner and her clubmates make fun of her by calling her "Dojira" or "Clumzilla" in some translations

As a movie... fun enough. Nothing special, bit meh, inoffensive. But those Kaiju fights were beyond batshit crazy cool, it reminded me of the first Pacific Rim where they just got the tone, the forces involved and all the fun down to an absolute T. It felt so meaty and yeh, huge amount of fun watching this.

I like Jia but I was kinda dissapointed that they never follow up with the Mothra twins that was referenced in KOTM.🫣

at first, i really didn’t like that they started leaning into the extremely silly sci-fi stuff. godzilla 2014 was exactly the tone i was looking for when i heard they were making a monster cinematic universe. KOTM had some really special moments, but it didn’t quite hit the same. naturally, GvK really disappointed me. the tone was so laughably cartoonish, the monsters moved too fast, and it seemed disrespectful to the original intention of godzilla as a character: an ugly amalgamation of the horrors of nuclear war. after some time, i realized it’s a fucking monster movie and it’s not that serious. i had a blast with this lol.

It's great you chilled out about it after some time and just enjoyed a monster movie. After all check out TOHO Godzillas over the decades and you will see that it has been more than Sci-Fi, even fantasy aspects. These have been more faithful to that history whilst making it their own. GxK and Minus One can coexist and be enjoyed by those who do. Great, you had a blast with this because it was awesome.

Another movie has been announced for 2026 or 27. Monarch does have a second season that looks to be Kong focused. A good way to humanize Godzilla is to give him a "son" like he had in the 60's and 90's films. I don't mind Kong being in the movie, but next one needs to be more about Godzilla.
