well, another legend says it was created by crossing the sound of a cello with the sound of a dolphin and putting it through some syntesizer. But if you ever listened to manowars "ride of the dragon" you will notice that manipulating an instrument with strings the right way can sound like some kaiju. wherever its a bass, a guitar or a cello.

They actually used it, yes. And there are lot of stupid things there... 1. No burning in the atmosphere. 2. Dropkick was not to ground, but to WATER... *facepalm* 3. WHY Gamera even did this, if she could just leave Godzilla on a high orbit for death without air??? ...In the end, dropkick to the sun could be much better scenario.

I was actually hoping to see that move in King of the Monsters. Like maybe not sliding across the city, but Godzilla uses his tail as a spring to dropkick Ghidorah in the chest.

This episode definitely deserves a remaster. Especially with how far Death Battle has come with their animation. Imagine the potential with this notably more destruction. :D

I don’t think it’s a good idea. Not because the idea isn’t awesome. Don’t get me wrong… The fandom is, already ballistic enough regardless of win or lose.

Godzilla was a metaphor for the nuclear bomb, a seemingly unstoppable force of destruction at the time. Therefore his abilities took on similar unstoppable qualities.

He’s actually based more on nuclear energy/natural disasters in general. The original Godzilla is actually almost directly inspired by a US bomb testing that took place off the coast of Japan where a fishing boat and all of it’s passengers were irradiated because of it. This is seen when a near identical event happens in the movie, only instead of a bomb it’s Godzilla

@@huss4r1864 Primal Groudon is 14’09 in games and I couldn’t find anything about how big Groudon is in the anime but from a short on youtube Primal Groudon sees to be about the size of a small hill/mountain. So I’m pretty sure at best Groudon would reach to around Legendary Godzilla’s hip at best unless that was a mountain but Groudon would still be much smaller.

I'm so glad this episode holds up. I'm in the process of ranking every episode and because of that I'm revisiting a lot of old episodes. This episode in particular holds a really special place in my heart, I remember actually watching this with my grandma who was a huge fan of Godzilla and enjoying the fight with her. It's been about 8 years since I've seen this fight, and it has aged really well with how entertaining the analysis is, the amazing fight, and hell even the animation isn't *that* bad. So glad I got the opportunity to revisit Godzilla vs Gamera, and I can't wait to see what tops my current #1

If anything coming back to this episode, there was legit no way Gamera could've won like when it comes to Godzilla, his durability was massive given how much punishment he can take and this extends to the other Kaijis in his series as well since they fight Godzilla and could easily be scaled to any one of the King's incarnations in terms of durability and like it was mentioned, Godzilla never lets a foe run away cause once he starts a fight, he will keep going until either he or any of his opponents are dead.

Godzilla vs biollante didn't start to become more popular until years later but at the time of its release it was hated the film is basically a example of a good work of fiction that was made in a different time that didn't accept it for what it was. Godzilla vs destroyah or godzilla vs biollante or godzilla are regarded as the best of the era. The heisei era didn't become a "cash grab" by modernizing classic characters MOST franchises literally do that all the time 🙄 why else do you think movie franchises exist to this day?. Studios will modernize characters or bring classic ones back to gain attention. That's literally how most franchises do things it's nothing new. By your logic the entire godzilla franchise is a cash grab since it modernizes alot of classic monsters. Your logic really makes no sense when the showa era and the millennium era are ALSO loved because of nostalgia. Literally all fans were born and grew up with different eras EVERY era is well loved because of nostalgia not just the heisei era. The only thing I can agree on is the 90s heisei films had more spam beam battles than physical ones but outside of that one issue the heisei era was and still is loved for more than just nostalgia just like the other eras

I remember watching this as a child and I still love this.

Fun fact! GvG went through editorial hell, it first appeared live at sgc and due to bens computer dying they had to preform it live, then they recorded it again to put on KZread but that was also lost. So they had to record it again a third time. At this point in db history broomstick’s voice was very taxing on chad and he had to survive on honey and tea for sgc. So boomstick lines feel alittle tiring here compared to the other recordings.

IIRC, the last new, canon Gamera movie was "Gamera the Brave" back in 2006. There was a fan-made short film done in 2015 with rumors of a reboot in the works since then, but so far, nothing has come of them.

Now this is a fight that definitely deserves a remaster

King Kong’s idea of fighting Godzilla is to stick a tree down his throat. Genius.

Gamera is also fueled by atomic fire, hence his breath being plasma i.e. the sun. The sun is atomic. So is Gamera.

I’m currently rewatching the whole show and this used to be my favorite fight but god damn that aged like fine milk in the sunlight

i remember watching this as a kid and being so excited for it. and now? it honestly still holds up, the animation is 💀 but other than that like the fight was still pretty pleasing to watch

this was one of the best animated death battles ever. had u on edge on who'd win

technically Godzilla didn't die in GMK his heart was still beating in the end. So he kinda just lost his body.

i'd honestly like to see this match redone. not due to the outcome more due to the animation.

I love how Godzilla's hand are so big he's practically shouting ''catch these hands'' to himself and to Gamera

As much as I really wanted Godzilla to win this and am happy that he did, I have to ask something.... If you were trying to show that Gamera was so intelligent, why didn't he, you know, LEAVE HIM IN SPACE?!?! Seriously, Godzilla does need to fucking breath and there really isn't much he could do up there. Yeah, it's a dirty move and a totally cheap win, but are you going to tell me Gamera gives 2 shits about a fair fight? He was losing. BADLY. Take the cheap-win! Or, shit, push him into the sun or something.

Except Godzilla CAN breathe in space, and he would just propel himself back to Earth with his atomic breath. Leaving Godzilla in space wouldn't solve anything in the long term. Godzilla is impervious to extreme temperatures and absorbs radiation, so pushing him into the sun would just make him more powerful.

Alright I forgot the whole Solar Radiation thing (Though I'm not sure that would count. There are more than one types of radiation, and he's never drawn power from the sun as far as I can find), but breathing in space? Is that confirmed anywhere? I know it's canon that he has gills. Never mind. My entire argument went flying out the window while looking for confirmation. It turns out Screw Attack made an error. Gamera has an extreme weakness to cold. Meaning that trip into space probably should have screwed HIM over a lot more than it would Godzilla.

Raid Man Godzilla has been in space in the movie Invasion of the Astro-Monster (a.k.a. Godzilla vs. Monster Zero) and several times in comics. His cells alone have been proven to survive in space through SpaceGodzilla and Biollante. Gamera does have a weakness to cold, but he has been shown flying through space before with ease, so for some reason the cold of space seems to not affect him.

I'm pretty sure that was suppose to be a piece of a building. Implying it was already destroyed by Godzilla. The animator at the time just didn't make it the right size. Just look at it. Does it look like a building?
