GO GO GODZILLA: Even the “King of the Monsters” himself, Godzilla, got into the 1960’s custom hot rodding craze as depicted in this fun model kit of Godzilla’s Go cart.
DETAILS EVERYWHERE: From Godzilla’s scaly skin to the fish scales on his hood ornament and everything in between is captured in the exquisite fine detail on the plastic parts in this kit.
RARE COLLECTIBLE RETURNS: The Godzilla Go Cart has been considered a “holy grail” model kit with very few surviving and even fewer offered through the collector’s market. The kit returns as an officially licensed set for the first time in decades.
QUICK SPECS: “whacky” scale. 9 1/2” long. 63 parts. Injected in green plastic. Glue and paint required. Skill level 2
Godzilla (Japanese: ゴジラ, Hepburn: Gojira, /ɡɒdˈzɪlə/; [ɡoꜜdʑiɾa] (About this soundlisten)) is a fictional monster, or kaiju, originating from a series of Japanese films. The character first appeared in the 1954 film Godzilla and became a worldwide pop culture icon, appearing in various media, including 32 films produced by Toho, four Hollywood films and numerous video games, novels, comic books and television shows. Godzilla has been dubbed the "King of the Monsters", a phrase first used in Godzilla, King of the Monsters! (1956), the Americanized version of the original film.
Godzilla is an enormous, destructive, prehistoric sea monster awakened and empowered by nuclear radiation. With the nuclear bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki and the Lucky Dragon 5 incident still fresh in the Japanese consciousness, Godzilla was conceived as a metaphor for nuclear weapons.[29] Others have suggested that Godzilla is a metaphor for the United States, a giant beast woken from its slumber which then takes terrible vengeance on Japan.[30][31][32] As the film series expanded, some stories took on less serious undertones, portraying Godzilla as an antihero, or a lesser threat who defends humanity. Later films address themes including Japan's forgetfulness over its imperial past,[33] natural disasters and the human condition.[34]
Godzilla has featured alongside many supporting characters. It has faced human opponents such as the JSDF, or other monsters, including King Ghidorah, Mechagodzilla and Gigan. Godzilla sometimes has allies, such as Rodan, Mothra and Anguirus, and offspring, such as Minilla and Godzilla Junior. Godzilla has also fought characters from other franchises in crossover media, such as the RKO Pictures/Universal Studios movie monster King Kong, as well as various Marvel Comics characters, including S.H.I.E.L.D.,[35] the Fantastic Four[36] and the Avengers.
The first film, Godzilla, was directed by Ishirō Honda and released by Toho in 1954. It became an influential classic of the genre. It featured political and social undertones relevant to Japan at the time. The original introduced an acclaimed music score by Akira Ifukube, reused in many later films. The 1954 film and its special effects director Eiji Tsuburaya are largely credited for establishing the template for tokusatsu, a technique of practical special effects filmmaking that would become essential in Japan's film industry since the release of Godzilla (1954).[14] For its North American release, the film was localized in 1956 as Godzilla, King of the Monsters!. It featured new footage with Raymond Burr edited together with the original Japanese footage.
The popularity of the films has led to the franchise expanding to other media, such as television, music, literature and video games. Godzilla has become one of the most recognizable symbols in Japanese pop culture.
Several of the films have political themes, others have dark tones, complex internal mythology, or are simple action movies featuring aliens or other monsters, while others have simpler themes accessible to children. The name Godzilla is a romanization of the original Japanese name Gojira (ゴジラ)-which is a combination of two Japanese words: gorira (ゴリラ), "gorilla", and kujira (クジラ), "whale". As developed by Toho, the monster is an offshoot of the combination of radioactivity and ancient dinosaur-like creatures, indestructible and possessing special powers.

    thanks for these videos, really gives me some good cars to bash and edit for model vehicle and action figure animations, if you could, could you maybe do some videos of kits that'd be good for stop motion animators? (ones that like to make scenes of cars falling apart in fights and stuff. and no, not as in actual destruction, just ones that could be held together without glue or cement so that, example, a crash, parts can be taken off.) Also, if you could, could you tell me what (FS) means at the end of model roundup model entries?

  • @hpiguy

    @hpiguy

    2 жыл бұрын

    Thanks for watching! I review new release/reissue plastic kits, so I'm not sure I'd do things that can be used for motion animators. It all depends on what the model companies issue. I don't know what FS is as I have not seen it. If it's something on their website you'd have to ask them directly. Thanks!
