The only time I think the CGI looked kidna wonky was The Master Pakku and Katara Fight. They cut that short for sure! Otherwise..... for the most part loooks good.

For the record though, I blame the director/writing crew for that more than anything. Aang going into a big speech before turning into Koizilla just took me straight out of the scene in a bad way.

Well, yes and no. You see, Tai and La, the moon and ocean, are in an endless dance with one another; push and pull, pull and push, push and pull. The ocean pushes, the moon pulls. The balance maintains the oceans and the moon. Zhao killed Tui, and thus this balance was lost. Now there's nothing that can stop the onslaught the ocean could, and will, unleash upon the world of Avatar. La, in his righteous fury, punishes Zhao and the Fire Nation for their arrogance towards nigh-divine beings. Only when Yue sacrifices herself to become the new moon is La subdued. The moon returns, the balance is restored. And La is pulled back.

This is honestly more brutal than the animation. Aang here just straight sacrificed himself to the whims of an elemental spirit. Which... makes sense, if you consider his own spiritual nature was also due to sacrifice.

I also like Zuko questioning "W-What is that??" It's so freaking good! And to mention Zuko's actor in live-action is pure gold, I would say he portrays Zuko more than the cartoon itself. I can feel his pain and suffering. He made people root for Zuko more. This guy is underrated.

Back when the Shyamalan movie came out, the use of a wave in place of Koizilla disappointed me immensely. Since that day, I have dreamed of seeing the ocean spirit's fury unleashed in live action. But it was only that: A dream. But now? I feel like a kid again, watching the book one finale to Avatar for the first time. To the cast and crew behind this adaptation, I say thank you. Thank you for bringing that dream to life.

That Wrath, a Ocean Spirit like Koizilla roars give me some goosebumps.

I've had a blast watching this series - I think it's quite good if you just allow it to be it's own thing. Some of the added dialogue and character development has their stroke of genius. Truly a case of "something that's pretty good when you haven't got someone in your ear constantly telling you it's bad"

I agree with you. This show is fine on its own but if you're making direct 1:1 comparisons to the anime then your left feeling disappointed.

This film has most of the greatest scenes ever, let’s all agree next film should be based on Aang when he is older mastering all the elements becoming the strongest and most powerful avatar in the universe

Lemme just say, the excitement I felt seeing this was so immense because in a world where people bend the elements, creatures roam about, and spirits inhabit on both plains of existence, a Giant Koi Fish Water Monster is the least ridiculous thing as opposed to a Wall of Water like in 2010’s Last Airbender. And these mfs FINALLY got this right 😮‍💨😮‍💨👌🏻👌🏻

Yeah, it's more like tears of anger. A spiritual wrath towards the invaders (Fire Nation). A divine punishment for invading and decimating a holy place. Agna Qel'a is not just a capital, but its also a holy place.

No matter what mythology the lesson comes from, mortal man shouldn't mess with things they can never understand. Zhao believed that he could mess with nature without consequences. By killing the mortal form of the moon spirit, he actually threatened all life, not just the Water Tribes. Even though Fire Nation ships have crude engines, they still are reliant on the tides.

He was carrying on the Will of a Vengeful Spirit. That wasn’t Aang’s fault. As soon as Tui came back to life, La returned and grab Zhao, the person that harmed Tui, into the Spirit World. In this version, it looks like Aang was the one in control.

I think what I liked about this scene compared to the anime is that this show emphasized the Ocean Spirits power more. They stated that the Avatars power pales in comparison to that of an Elemental spirit and we really got to see that here. Zhao even saying something to the effect of that if he kills the spirits he has no use for the Avatar anymore. The CGI is also incredible.

One thing I love MOST about the Koi-Kaiju in THIS version is that in THIS Version, It behaves ALOT more WILDLY!! Like It's Acting out of BLIND RAGE!!! Where as the Original, Formally made a Quick example of The Fire benders Close by to make a Point, and then Casually Allowed the Rest of them to Retreat,... HERE The Monster is All like.. "FUCK IT ALL!!!" and Just ABSOLUTLY Annihilates.... ALL of them!!! Making sure to Leave NO Survivors!!! You REALLY Get more of a Sense that Both Aang AND the ocean Spirit are TRULY Out of control!!!

What i like about this scene, is that in original it was really hard to tell that it wasn't Aang, but the Ocean Spirit which got to unleash his rage with help of Aang channeling him trough Avatar state. It is even said that Aang is no more as he sacrificed himself for Ocean Spirit manifestation. And only because of Yue sacrificing herself to save Moon Spirit, Ocean Spirit was able to gave Aang back because world need him as much. It was done much better here than in original version.

That's actually much worse, imo. - The original show already makes it clear that Aang has no control over the Avatar State at that point in the story. - Aang's past lives working with the Ocean Spirit as opposed to offering themselves reinforces their role as the bridge between men and spirits. - The Avatar State forcing Aang to participate in the Koizilla's attack gives Aang another reason to dread the Avatar State later. Too much emphasis on Aang not being culpable undermines that as a story beat.

But still: A: The soldiers weren't pushed from a super high cliff, although Aang gave them a mega "push" for the comical aspect of the show and to hit them all at once. They probably would have only died if they had sustained contusions, but the armor helps to hold that. No one can confirm their deaths, especially in the world of Avatar, where human physical capabilities are superior to what is considered "normal." B: Definitely not. The bearded one, Kahchi, is seen very much alive later along with all the Rhinos chasing Zuko and Iroh. C: There is also no confirmation of death, although more vengeful, Aang has already given several wind blows like those to soldiers and they were evidently only knocked out, the same could go for the giant beast. But this is a moment that I really wouldn't mind if it happened, because Aang was in a state that he was ashamed of later, allowing himself to be overcome by anger and losing the emotional balance of the monk's teachings
