Godspeed You! Black Emperor - East Hastings (GREAT QUALITY, Live @ Troxy, London, 14-12-2010)

Музыка

Godspeed You! Black Emperor
The Sad Mafioso (+ a drone coda just to end the show)
Live @ Troxy, London, December 14th 2010
Until now this is probably the best gy!be live video surfaced here on KZread, most of the other shootings are really too dark, they have low recording quality and they do not frame the single details of the band playing, such as all the guitar slidings you can see here.
The only fault I can admit is that the guy who shooted this (the user "watchgashtv" here on KZread) never turns his camera to the right (he was at the far left and there were too many people in the way), so that there is no chance of seeing Sophie Trudeau (the violinist) and Dave Bryant (the third guitarist) while playing, though you can hear them very well.
On the contrary there were lot of problems with the audio, since his camera didn't seem to handle the basses very well, and this is why I'm uploading the video again: I've just replaced the audio - and perfectly synchronized it - with a recording from another source, and now the video is really quite enjoyable.
Here you can find the bootleg I used as source, you can also download and listen it for free:
www.archive.org/details/gybe20...
There is also another bootleg of the show (uploaded by the user "ZzubEvol" on archive.org), but that is very rough, I recommend you to listen this version I'm linking here since it's really very fine. So if you want to listen to the full version of East Hastings you can find it in that link, unfortunately this video documents only the second part of the song and watchgashtv told me he did not shoot the full song, he shooted just those two videos you can find here on KZread.
Hope you'll enjoy this,
ZissUntEtnah

I've shared like almost all of their discography on Facebook, and no one ever liked it (as in physically like it on Facebook, no one gave the time to see whether they actually liked it or not haha). If I post a picture of my dog, 50 people end up liking it. If I post a video of Godspeed, people are like "fuck you Daniel, this shitty music is like ten minutes long!"

+Break the Chain I know, it pisses me off. People don't understand/appreciate the progression, they're use to songs that are three to four minutes long that use the same repetitive beat (for the most part) throughout.

I really like their music and this song in particular, because it was one of the main tracks of a Greek series called "The 10th order", which is amasing as well. There's a part of the song, though, that really reminds me of another Greek song :p It's a very old one, composed by one of the most known Greek composers. The part from 1.47 to 2.24 realy has the same melody. :/ They might have mentioned it somewhere, I have no idea and maybe it's just my imagination. I mean the genre of the song is totally different. It's just this specific part of the song that reminds me of it, but they really sound so similar. :/ Αλίκη Βουγιουκλάκη - Μες σ'αυτή τη βάρκα this is the name of the Greek one.

This was the first post rock song I heard and is far from the last this music is just perfect.

This was the video that I watched when I first heard they were coming back. I wanted to know what to expect, especially likely songs. I later saw them live, nearly missing them (age restricted venues). It didn't prepare me. Stifling heat, thirst, standing still, elbow to elbow for hours on end, no friends to share the experience with. It didn't matter. That was a moment of pure magic. Watching this video brings back that feeling better than any other live video. Astonishing. Hearts aches of joy.
