Over the years my music taste got heavier. But Godsmack has been one of those bands I always return to I’ve always enjoyed them.
Before their album when legends rise came out, Sully spoke in interviews that they're new direction would be more radio friendly, so whenever they release new music, I don't expect it to be like their older material which I really think they needed. I love their new song and look forward to their last album!

Softer til 1:56. Then it rocks!!
Sully just posted on Instagram for the first time since 2020 tonight. He explained this album and that it tells a story from this first song to the last with Easter eggs throughout for fans from their first work to this absolute final album this will be it. He said this is not the best song on the album and was dropped first on purpose for a reason. It's definitely softer and different than Godsmack that we're used to. I am Gen X so my intro to rock was Led Zeppelin and then Van Halen then black sabbath to Aerosmith. My hard rock favorite is Alice in chains and System of a down. I give this first single a 6 out of 10. I'll reserve judgment until I hear the whole album and listen to the story Sully said it tells. Definitely is a departure from Voodoo and Under your scars. So anyhow I agree with your initial reaction for the same reasons. ☮☮🎸🎸🎶
Godsmack is NOT METAL at all. They never have been. They are hard rock. I got sick of people calling them metal long before Sully himself came out and said they were not.

They definetly dabbaled in metal because if "i stand alone" or something like "i F****** hate you" are not metal i dont know what is

@@BaldHeadedMETAL really? Maybe a a slight tinge. Personally I find I Stand Alone to be one of their worst songs. Boring and played out within a month of being released. My opinion on it may actually support your assertion as I much prefer hard rock over metal.

@@BaldHeadedMETAL actually if I had to label Facele.. I call it Dwayne The Rock Rock. Definitely the one album I complained most about GS sounding the same. Maybe my least fave....except for the fact that my fave GS song of all time is on it Releasing the Demons
