The "Montreal" is a truly versatile instrument, which looks pretty great too. Love your idea of adding a zero fret. I just worked as the guitar tech for Shawn Phillips on his last tour from July to the end of September this year (2022), and Shawn's been playing Godin guitars for years now. He's using 2 nylon string, a steel string, an electric LGSX (all w/ synth access), as well as a 12 string and a Godin 5 string bass. Not a single problem with the Godin instruments. Only problems were a couple small ones with a Fender and a Gibson.... 'nuff said!

Wow I have not heard the name of Shawn Phillips since the 1970s. Not once! And sometimes I think of an old song of his.

I own both, a 335 and a Montreal. If you are after the 335 “honk” a 335 has it, in spades. However, for versatility and dialling in a specific sound, hands down the Montreal wins. I’ll bet I pick up the Montreal 10 times for every 1 time I pickup the 335. Both are great guitars.

Great demo, fab guitars. Could you explain the zero fret ? Surely if installed after market then the space within the 1st fret is reduced and that would mess up the intonation, no?

Well put sir…I just bought a 335 from a company called EART….for $400 it’s unbeatable…needed a string change and was ready to go…the pick ups are almost replicas of classic Gibsons, sound great but I put Seymour Duncan antiquity pickups in it and it’s sounds awesome

It seems to me that Godin improves upon every model they are competing with. I recently bought a Gibson LP standard, then played a Summit Ht(I think, whatever the LP style one is) and preferred it. It was lighter, sounded better and was more comfortable to play. I still love my LP though! I love the Radium, which is the best Tele style guitar IMO. Then there's the Session which I prefer to a strat since it's got the switch and pickups in less intrusive locations. Just great stuff all around!

Nice song at the end too..Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers are my all time #1 by a long shot…saw Tom here in Baltimore in 2017, few weeks before he passed…NOBODY oozed pure American rock and roll like Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers….Mike Campbell and the Dirty Knobs are INCREDIBLE, check them out

I have the same, likely same year. But I'll admit I didn't know what the 5 positions offered. Must read manuals. What's the black stuff you put on the neck pickup? I tend to tonk and plonk the first pickup on my Exit-22 ...

He has explained the black 'stuff'... in the video... In a fascinating and extremely informative video I watched yesterday, which is a Master Class in guitar making to help players to choose the right guitar (kzread.info/dash/bejne/m654w5qPhNXSm7w.html), Robert Godin prides himself in including in the box that comes with all of his instruments the description of the material used and of the functions of the electronics, even with diagrams. He noted with regret that nobody reads it...

Very good guitar! But now better than a 335 wow I own both but wouldn't say that. & more popular in Europe that's cause a 335 costs a fortune there! But good advertising
