Why are some of these people make such a big fuss about Wu false start as if there is something taboo about an athlete who made a wrong move unintentionally. Get real, people, many accomplished athletes made false starts now & then in any major sporting events. She wasn’t an exceptional one, anyone could have made that mistake, not just once but a few times in some cases. Yes, she made a false start but didn’t accuse someone else for making her to do it. So what,! She complied with the judges decision to leave that event. Btw, the tattoo on her arm is her own damn business, not anyone else., I have a nice tattoo on my rear end too. So what, grow up, folks.!

I have many friends and relatives with beautiful tattoos, to signify their inner meanings. Wu is now a popular hurdler though she has competitive opponents from China 🇨🇳 too. I watched her run though she made mistakes at times...hope she trains her mentality well before the coming Olympics, and win a medal for China 🇨🇳

There are so many girls with tattoos in China. Why single her out? Do you know why she is so popular? Because whenever she is on the starting line up, she always seems to be the ONLY beautiful runner.

Your view is severely lacking in the appreciation of a different culture. China is a country of rapid disproportionate development. There is a huge gulf in the acceptance level of tattoos between people of different age groups and regions. What is common to you*, is still a stigma to a sizable part of the population. And you did not recognize that athletes are representing their country, not jusy themselves. There is nothing wrong with expecting proper (note that 'proper' is subjected to culture) representation of their nation. The thing is that the root of tattoo culture from Eastern and Western world is not the same. For many Western countries, in ancient times, Tattoos are made for the worriors as marks of hornor and sailors who needs show their courage. But on the other side, in the ancient Eastern cultures like China and Japan, Tattoos are made as marks of prisoners who have committed crimes like killing other people and will never get rid of it in the rest of their lives. That is why eastern cultures have way more different thinkings regarding to tattoos. Even now in Japan, you are not allowed to use public pools and gyms with your tattoo exposed. By saying this is not meaning that I don't like tattoo. I am a Chinese and I have 5 tattoos on my body. But I do recieve not so positive reactions from people who see them everytime. Thanks.

The eventual result that she indeed was at fault and deprived of the medal was not my concern. We need to look at things on a multi-faceted front and be aware of its development.
