*For the murder of the Tsarist family we should be grateful not so much to Kerensky's provisional government or the Bolsheviks, as to King George V of England. When everything was ready to send the Tsar's family to Britain, and a British military destroyer was in the roads near Murmansk, George suddenly refused to receive them, not Nicholas, his cousin, nor his family. George was understandable: he clearly did not want the English mob to see a "Tsar without a Tsardom," for it is unlikely that anyone in England would want a repeat of the February, or, worse, October, 1917 scenario. But George cannot be forgiven. Even Kaiser Wilhelm II negotiated with the Bolsheviks over the extradition of the Czarist family, although there was war between Russia and Germany. Then, when bits of information were leaked, they said they had shot, but only Nikolai. The deception came to light a little later.*

@@akipovakipov8240 it is because before the 1918 russian language reform, so the ages when the anthem was written, there were russian letters such as ѣ, i and ъ at the end of the words, so in the song there must be those letters. It is not ukrainian, it is russian language of the 800s

This the greatest national anthem ever, much better than the Soviet one.

@@menma620 Maybe if WWI never happened or Russia did not lose it and had revolution? - before great war russia and poland as part of this empire were deweloping and maybe after years of peace under tzar rule would forget about wars from the past and cooprate like north and south of USA today or England and Scotland. More that bofore polish november uprising poland was almost independent county as Kingom of Poland with personal union with Russia - your tzar Alexander I was also our king Alexander II - of course this was not full freedom - Polan was russian pupet but still has got own army, administration, budget etc. This would be see bad for many polish patriots but if we forget about our honor and stay loyal to Russia and wait for better times it would better for us. Russia at her beginig as Moscow state was able to bend the knee to Mongols to avoid be masacred when they was strong but also build her strenth and in correct moment kick off the mongols and grow into empire. Why my ancestors was not so clever?

the song is pretty old and in those ages there was a different pronounciation of russian language, if you see there are also ѣ, i, (and ъ at the end of words), those letters aren’t used in russian language anymore
