I feel people overestimate the mercenaries armour, it’s just ceramic plates. If I wanted to straw-man, it’s pretty easy to shoot through a dinner plate.

When you first meet Kim, there's a passive Esprit de Corps check that says "If an assault were launched on this building right now--if the windows came crashing down and the whole world descended upon you--this man would hurl himself in death's way to save you. You are sure of this" and that made me pause and think for a solid minute. Literally right from the start the game tells you that you can trust this man with your life and he never disappoints you. Kim Kitsuragi is a hero.

i wasted mine while i was choking on a piece of plastic, i had various people trying to perform heimlich and call the ambulance while i couldnt breathe. Fun fact: According to the author of the artwork, the ghost behind Kim is not Harry but "Eyes", nickname of Kim's ex-partner in the 57th, mentioned in a dialogue about Kim's eyesights. In Chinese DE fanfic community (the author is Chinese), a popular theory was that "Eyes" was killed in line of duty to protect Kim years before, hence this artwork was made, implying that Kim was thinking about "Eyes" when he took the shot. Dialogs related: KIM KITSURAGI - "I had a partner once. They called him Eyes, because he had to show me things. It's that bad." EMPATHY - This partner of his, Eyes -- things didn't end well. It saddens him to say his name. Don't even ask. He wouldn't answer. Maybe some other small talk? (After Tribunal) KIM KITSURAGI - "Then I shot and wounded him while Glen took a bullet in the spine." Kim Kitsuragi has never put much stock in the supranatural. He has about as much faith in higher powers as he does in the likelihood of a Kind Green Ape showing up with a winning lottery number in its outstretched green paw. But as the killer, Hoenklowen, lines detective Du Bois (Harry!) up in his sights and pulls the trigger, Lieutenant Kitsuragi finds himself out of options. He scores a solid 70% on his marksmanship exams by due diligence, by marking the targets out in his mind and striking them by rote repetition. Muscle memory, more than any conscious understanding of where they are in space. But the killer is no stationary target. He is alarmingly mobile, lively and bobbing unsteady on a tide of blood-alcohol. Kim cannot plan, he cannot ask Harry for help as he spins away, his pilfered mercenary armor sparkling and tinkling in the rifle’s aftershocks. He cannot practice his kill-shot after hours by bribing the range officer with a box of cigarettes. He gets one chance. One. And the trigonometry connecting his and Harry’s survival and Hoenklowen’s death passes through a numinous gunpowder cloud that his eyes cannot pierce. It is, infuriatingly, outside of his control. So, at lack for better options and against his better judgment, ltn. Kim Kitsuragi raises his gun and starts to pray. To whoever might be listening…

Lt. Kitsuragi sits at his desk, typing up his report on the events of the previous week. He thinks of Eyes, the marksmanship exams scraped by, and he thinks of Lt. du Bois. He thinks of the shot. He doesn't think about the violent and irrepressible miracle that it finding its mark represented. He doesn't think of the sprirt of the city that carried it on a breeze, course correcting that little chunk of lead into the softest part of a very hard man. He does his best not to think of the aqueous humour bursting, and the blood vessels, nerves, and brain tissues shredded by a bullet shattering inside someone's eye socket. He considers how best to record the details of this incredible shot. He knows many cops would spend paragraphs embellishing its difficulty to try and get a raise out of their captains. He thinks of this with disdain. "Lt. Kitsuragi incapacitated assailant." A wry smile plays over his face. His little protest against machismo. He sighs. And continues writing.

My favorite thing about Kim’s shot is how absolutely miraculous it is. You hear so much throughout the game about how that armor is more or less unstoppable by common means-that it’s going to be the instrument of a massacre. But the armor does fail because Kim, much like the bullet, intervenes at exactly the right place and time. Probability outmatched by a miracle. Love that moment.

@@40blonde88 Kim stated in one of the conversations that he's an instinctuall shooter - and he's pretty good at that. He won't hit the mark when on shooting range but he *FEELS* the shot. The Tribunal scene is the peak of his instinct showing.

I've never done the 'Cuno as your partner' version of the story's last act, and I've always wanted to experience it, but I just can't bring myself to let Kim get hurt to make it happen.

The Tribunal, the actual conversation, that was Harry's moment. He showed just how good of a detective and peacekeeper he really is. He did everything he could to avoid needless death all the while barely keeping it together, but even then, he alone couldn't save them from the merc's hatred. But the fight, when the whole world descended upon you, Kim Kitsuragi did exactly what you knew he'd do. He threw himself in front of danger to save you. He always thought of himself as competent, just good enough, never anything spectacular. When questioned, he says that Precinct 41 sent Harry as he was the best, even with his spiraling issues, and yet never admits his Precinct did the same. The shootout in front of the Whirling-In-Rags proves it anyway. He's not just the man for the job, he was exactly where he needed to be, where he was meant to be. Kim Kitsuragi is exactly who we needed him to be.

To be fair, the player should have known this, in a way or another. Sure, Kim may be statistically a bad shooter compared to Harry... But he has at least twice the kill count. It's Harry 3 kills that are low for the RCM, let alone someone with his experience and duty. He has the story of bashing the drunk with the ledger, but that was a low moment, not an on-duty kill. You already know that Kim is a real fighter, you just didn't get to see it

The fact that Harry, mere minutes after waking up from an apocalyptic binge, could *immediately* assess Kim to be the kind of person who would hurl himself to save his copopo half-brother should also attest to the sheer power of his mind. Every build in any playthrough reveals the pure genius behind each success. It makes you wonder: Would an unbroken Harry walk away from the tribunal unscathed? The fact that Kim, ever so calculated and unbelieving, momentarily cracks reveals one thing that only Harry, under any condition, could understand. *Kim is a true vacholiere.*

I lnow this is very, very late, but I've always seen Harry's at his best as the maxed out in every single category. Except they aren't fighting eachother. In that final tribunal, all the skills work together as one to get you through it. That's who Harry was before the drugs, before the alcohol, before all of it. The perfect policeman, with only 3 kills to his name. Just look at how an out of shape and hungover Harry is able to knock out Measurehead in two blows. The dude is a physical and mental beast.

An Unbroken Harry... Maybe, just maybe, could walk away unscathed. People would still die, the Mercs would make sure of it, but maybe, just maybe, less people would.

I just beat this game and my God, Kim is such a wonderful character. I was fully content to be a WILD amnesiac in the world being mad goofy but Kim was such a powerful Character I LITERALLY cleaned up my act. I started leveling completely different, I MADE SURE not to do any drugs or alcohol, I was INCREDIBLY thorough about the case, and I made myself as LEAST a fool as possible.

I went a similar way, but in a different direction. I started the game and kept realizing a lot of this was my fault. Like, directly my fault. And I apologized for it, and tried to fix it where I could. That was all well and good, but that's all I was doing. Kim talked some sense back into me. I didn't stop apologizing, or trying to be good, but I stopped wallowing in self-pity whenever something bad happened. For players who take the role-playing seriously, it really does seem like Kim is just subtly guiding you towards better actions and choices.

Desperation tempered by duty, focused on an eye-slit as wide as his finger. One shot to save them all. An Insulindian Miracle.

CONCEPTUALIZATION [Medium:Success] - The slowly rising tone of this song is reminiscent of the Lieutenant's confidence slowly rising until he pulls the trigger, and the *crescendo* at the end reminds you of the moment that he succeeds on his shot. HAND-EYE COORDINATION [Challenging:Success] - The *incredible* shot.

Seeing Kim miss a shot in early game and explain his poor eyesight only to have him in the moment of truth, under his breathe, mumble "God, Please..." and then land a crazy 360 no scope like a pin through a needle was one of the most satisfying things in a game I ever experienced 😁

I love how powerful and memorable Disco Elysiums writing can be that if you took a random line from the game you could probably be able to pinpoint the exact scene it originated from

I can picture the scene in my head. The post. Beautiful.

I think of this scene a lot; Kim's somebody who puts his best foot forward at all times, but we all have limits as people. In Kim's case, his eyesight. As somebody with high functioning autism who sometimes has difficulty trying to mask it to appear as astute as possible in professional environments, I know the feeling of trying your best, but being seemingly held back by the human fact that none of us are ever going to be perfect. None of us will ever be _everything_ we can be because there's just too many variables at stake, some of which stand against us, beyond our control, keeping us from perfection. Kim's similar in his eyesight and his Seolite background, made especially clear if you fail the authority check at the church. No matter how astute Kim is as a Lieutenant, there's going to be factors in his life that hold him back. Not everybody's going to see him as a true Vacholiere, despite all his virtues and professionalism as a human being. His eyesight doesn't help. He's never going to hit 100% of the targets in practice, and he knows it. Kim missing when he tries to shoot the body down eats away at his morale despite his fortitude as an officer of the RCM, because he, like everybody, wants to be the best he can, if only to prove himself as _enough_ to a deeply critical world that doesn't care much for excuses. A world especially critical towards Kim, a man who has never been called a true Vacholiere in his life, all because of an immutable aspect of his life that, in a better world, would be immaterial to his public perception. Kim knows this well, and doesn't let it break him, yet its weight still bears on his soul, and how could it not? Kim carries more weight than just Eyes' fate, or whether or not he can shoot a belt buckle, but he soldiers on, ever mindful of things he wishes he would never have to consider. He's going to focus on solving this case. How bad can it get? And then we get to Kim's moment in the tribunal. The chips are down; it's all or nothing: If Lieutenant Kitsuragi doesn't hit Ruud Hoenkloewen in the _one_ place his armor is vulnerable. It's over. Harry and the Hardies are dead. The Whirling-In-Rags is next. The hornets will get into the beehive. Even if Raul Kortenaer is burning to death, Ruud's nock cannon and T-500 ceramic armor is more than enough to wipe out all opposition with ease, and break Martinaise. Kim has _one_ shot in his Armistice - a mere 9mm muzzleloader - and the weight of everything in this moment. Harry's dodged the first shot, but when Ruud readjusts, it'll be curtains. Kim has no room for hesitation, and all the odds in the world are against him. _But he does it_ Despite everything: his internalized anxieties, his eyesight, the pressure of the moment, and De Paule taking aim at him, Kim's Armistice erupts in a gaseous plume of smoke and heat, and squarely hits Ruud in the eye socket. It's an unbelievable shot, per Hand/Eye Coordination, and it single-handedly keeps the tribunal from turning into a far bloodier massacre that risks taking all of Martinaise down with it. Kim's a true Vacholiere, regardless of what anybody says. We don't always succeed when we put ourselves out there. Sometimes we stumble, become demoralized, let our fears and anxieties erode our psyche. But sometimes, when it matters most, we outdo ourselves. We let the fear of defeat press us far as we can get towards perfection. In those moments, flaws and all, we show our finest selves, even if just for a second, no excuses required: We are _enough_ despite everything that's hurt us in the past. It feels horrible to be demeaned for immutable aspects of yourself, yet at the end of the day, we all grow from what we experience, and in our finest hours, we demonstrate that we can't let it break us. God, this game.

Fits the detective's personality well. Kim doesn't talk a whole lot, he usually only says the most important or relevant possible thing as concisely as possible at any given time.

I love kim like a brother, he never belittled harry, he was so patient with his amnesia and understanding, he tried to lift his spirits whenever he thought it necessary and when push came to shove he was there to catch harry, and ready to take a bullet, he IS a true friend, a brother to Harry

Depending on your sensibilities you are better off shiping those two as Kim is incredibly supportive, and gay (canonically) and Harry is bi (canonicaly, and aware of being bi and Kim being gay if you run the homosexual underground thought). Electrochemistry (Harry's horny meter) also drools at multiple occasions over how "cool" Kim is, to his jacket and posture, plus when you dodge the first bullet in the tribunal one of your only thoughts is to see where Kim is so that you dodging it doesnt accidentally hit him. Kim also regularly keeps an eye on your appearance/fashion and comments on it, and is disappointed when you shave off your mutton chops. He's also the only one who appreciates your karaoke whether you pass the check or fail.

The little moments of camaraderie and support from Kim mean so much in this game and his character makes you WANT to straighten yourself out and get better because you want to make Kim proud, for him to be your friend in this world where you know no one regardless of how well *they* may know *you*. I knew before I even played I would like him, from what I’d seen he had all the hallmarks of characters I tend to enjoy, but I still truly underestimated just /how much/ Kim’s opinion and respect would come to mean to me. When my harry got shot my worry wasn’t “oh no if I die will I lose?” It was “if I die here then I have no way to know if Kim made it out alive” because THATS what worried me more. Kim is such a wonderful, well written character and if you don’t do at least one play through maining Espirit Du Corps you’re missing out on so much of it.

Oh, god the airhorns in the middle with the Red Rock Riviera (?) theme but instead of sounding triumphant and melancholic they are laden with anticipation and determination. God, such a great track.

Esprit de corps [easy : sucess] Lieutenant Kitsuragi did not obtain outside help, nor did he bribe anyone for additional training. Revachol : The Lieutenant has always loved and cared for me. I really like how in the middle of the track you can hear beats like in "red rock riviera", fells like theme really belongs in game. Great peace of art!

Love the ending of this song, it has that uplifting feel at the end. "Sunrise parabellum"

GOD the horns coming in as if Revachol itself turns its gaze to Kim... The cymbals mathing the drums as if the city's heart beats in tune with the Lieutenant's... the song ending on the higher but slower note as if both Kim and the city hold their breaths before the shot... I'm going insane over this theme. Truly a work of art, I'll be thinking about it for weeks

Just finished my first play through of DE last night and as soon as I realized that the moment this represents had triggered I pulled out my phone and played this song over the scene to make sure this fantastic and beautiful song got to shine in its rightful place, and also ensure this song is thoroughly embedded in my inaugural first experience of the masterpiece that is Disco Elysium. You truly captured the emotion, sound, and feel of the game. True hardcore to the max

Alright everyone. I have a genuine confession to make. During The Shootout, I fucked it up. I fucked it all up. I tried so hard to used my extremely high Empathy build to solve it peacefully, but it wasnt enough. And when the time came to draw, I was found lacking, and so many people got hurt. So many people got hurt from my failure. Some died. I stopped playing the game for 6 months after that, really, genuinely fucked me up emotionally. I felt real, authentic guilt over this goddamn game. It took a lot for me to come back to it, and when I did finish it is sobbed like a babe in arms for about half an hour. Never felt anything like it before or since.

Y’know, I know the game points different things at you based on the kind of build you go for and what you excel at, a bit like a mirror if you try to play to your own personal choices, rather than playing a character. I think the point here is that with the Sensitive build, you do spend a lot of the game failing the checks you need to do good detective work- motorics and intellect specifically, maybe physique too. The game told me in no uncertain terms that people died because I wasn’t able to talk the man down with my high empathy/suggestion, and the other outcome (managing to correctly shoot him in the head) would have likely prevented people from dying. But it also tells me that it’s okay that it went to shit, because you have to keep going, and your efforts weren’t in vain, because you still stopped an all-out-war. And some people are still alive because of you. It doesn’t go unnoticed how you put yourself in harms way for those still living. I guess what I mean to say, you spend a lot of the game failing as a detective, but not as a highly sensitive instrument. And the game knows this, and it knows the *kind* of person who wants to play the Sensitive build, and it holds that damn mirror up to you and says, “it’s okay, you’re okay, you’ve suffered but you can keep going, because it’s what you have to do”, and that message is exactly what I needed to hear from this game. GOD what a masterpiece

I’m in the process of a racist, fascist playthough of Disco Elysium, and I know that Kim hates me to the point that there’s no way that he’ll survive the tribunal unscathed because he doesn’t trust me. However, knowing that this scene does not change even if Kim hates Harry makes it 10x more impactful. Kim has no reason to like Harry in this playthrough but when everything comes crashing down he still throws himself into death’s way to save Harry. Kim’s just that good of a guy and he has hope that things’ll change for the better and I guess he has hope that Harry’ll change for the better.

Goosebumps all over. This DESERVES to be in the game. I can't wait for someone to make a mod for DE that plays this when Kim draws his pistol to shoot Ruud.

HALF LIGHT: He missed. But the next shot will be fatal for Harry. HAND/EYE COORDINATION: You can never take that shot. I just... can't. AUTHORITY: YOU CAN! Make that bullet hit the target! Hey, I don't know how this got on my feed and I don't even know what Disco Elysium is. Noticed you're not that big so I thought I'd just leave a nice comment because I enjoyed what you did. Nice artwork to fit the music, it gives context and makes me imagine what it's all about. Very nice music, well composed, very sad and sacrifice-like, fitting for the end of a great character after a long journey. So yeah, I think you've got talent and quality. That's my two cents. You're not too far off. [SPOILERS FOR DISCO ELYSIUM] It's pretty much in the climax of the game, one of the only actually dangerous confrontations and that's your partner going for a really hard shot on a heavily armored mercenary (only unarmored place is the eye slit) about to shoot you. In the motion to shoot him he also places himself in front of you and in the aim of another mercenary (who misses iirc).

There's so much that goes into the details of this one small moment, it's hard to fully describe how impactful everything is, and why this theme makes so much sense.

@@borealmarinda4337 is Kim devoutly religious? I'm not disagreeing, I just didn't get dialogue that necessarily gave me that impression, he was always so careful in framing things in a neutral way. That being said I don't know what a religious person would sound like in Disco Elysium, he was a Moralist and thus at least nominally supported the innocentric system.

One shot kept that city, and all its people from being another tallymark for those killers. A shot from a man with a bare minimum pass rate on the range, with a joke of a gun, against bullet proof killers who love what they do. Great song

I've listened to this a couple times and just realized it said fan track it completely meshes with the game so well I didn't even realize it wasn't part of it. Great stuff.

I'm not sure if its the artwork or the song itself, but I legitimately thought this was part of the official OST I'm honestly not joking either, it took me listening to this song 5-6 times before I finally read the "Fan Track" part of the title. You made something seriously impressive here Paul.

This is excellent. It's also impressive how you managed to nail the atmosphere of the original soundtrack.

I love DE and Kim so much, just finished this game twice and it will always have a place in my heart. This track captures some great feelings, thank you for this. Kim's great moments all feel deserved and cinematic, and i swear i was so scared in the tribunal, if he died on my first playthrough i dont know how i would handle it. I wanted to see the worst of him, but still didnt have the heart to be too mean to him. He may be one of my favorite characters of all time. I like the orange, it goes with the green.

I think the finest compliment I can offer to this video is that for a moment, I did not see it was fanmade; so that when I clicked play, I had phantom memories of this playing during that moment, and I could've sworn I remember hearing this. Which of course, isn't correct- but the authenticity and emotion you captured with this music made it impossible for separate the two for a little while :)

Just got started on this game and I already love lieutenant Kim. The way he tries to remain stoic through my chaotic nonsense is commendable. During my first playthrough i want to be his best friend

It hits right in the feels when you realise its ''Eyes'' who is guiding Kim..

Volition: "You saw your partner take the shot. You know you can. Steady your breathing." Hand-Eye Coordination: "You've done this a hundred times at Academy. You know your record is 7/10 hits." Visual Calculus: "Thats...still a 30% chance to die. Even if you hit the mark." Shivers: "You realize that not only do you have a sizeable chance to die....so do innocents. So does your part....so does your friend." Espirit De Corps: "Friend. You could see it in his heart, that he was a good man, a great detective; even if we fail, we still try." Authority: "So. Pull the trigger. And make it count. For your precinct." Composure: "For yourself." Empathy: "For the one man who saw you for you, and not your skin or your glasses. Do it for your friend." Drama: "Damn straight. Show them how you got to be Kim "Straight-Shooter" Kimball". Kim: That's not my name... Electrochemisty: "Out of time, SHOOT!"

I can not properly put into words HOW MUCH I love this masterpiece of a soundtrack. Truly, a masterful shot. It's going to be engraved in my mind with this scene. I know nothing about music, but this just sound both like Kim himself and the scene, and his shot. The yearning, the unspeakable calmness, the eye of the storm. Despite all the self-doubt, the unfortunate past where it didn't work out, the factual impossibility of the shot -- no hesitation. He puts all he's got to stop the inevitable bloodshed and to protect someone he cares deeply about. Kissed by God, pulls a miracle. I just finished the game yesterday and this soundtrack fills me with insufferable will to live, just as the game itself. I haven't processed all my emotions yet, and it's actually painful to listen to now. Love it so damn much. Thank you for blessing us.

I seriously thought I had a chance the first time I got here. I thought I could turn one last thing around, or at the very least act in defense. When I finally realized I wasn't getting out of this alive, I thought I must have done something wrong. Said the wrong things. Done something stupid. I didn't know them, but these were just the consequences of my actions, of my choices, right? But there's nothing you can do. There's nothing you could have done. You were simply in the way of unstoppable human urges, pumped through a select few to wreak havoc on whatever they could reach. There is no reasoning with it, and there is no overcoming it. There never was. And I only got to keep living because of a miracle. But there weren't enough miracles to go around.

There was, in my opinion, one more miracle left-or maybe it was the same miracle given back from you to Kim-as you’re bleeding out and somehow, know to open your eyes just in time. To see what Kim cannot, not because of his eyesight but because he’s focused on *you* and recognize the threat despite your fading mind and vision in time to warn him with a single gasped word on what might be your last breath. I’m not sure if this plays out every time you get shot (and pass the authority check) or not, (after all the gun I passed to Kim was only in my possession because I failed to save Ruby from killing herself, so maybe at least one of my failures could lead to something good instead of just more pain.) Regardless, I like to believe that I was able to repay Kim for his incredible shot-a miracle for a miracle.

Fresh death and fading life sit, heavy and metallic, in the cold air. The scene is different. The scene is the same. You were not there. Espirit De Corps [Heroic: Success] This is not the first time someone else has taken a bullet meant for Lieutenant Kitsuragi. This is also not the first time he has seen a fellow officer, a partner, lie helplessly in the sights of an enemy shooter. However, this is the first time he might be able to do something about it. Not again, your half-brother thinks, not like Eyes. He *will* do something about it.

It's hard to find fitting songs for certain characters and moments, specially instrumental ones, but his; this is amazing, incredibly sweet yet somehow sad and strong without the use of more instruments or higher volume. You created something precious!

Didn't understand first that this song is not an official soundtrack, listened it a lot for days without noticing. I can't describe how perfect and suitable this track is for that moment in the game. It's just... impressive. Thanks a lot for this masterpiece!

The way the beat is this loud thump quickly followed by a quieter one repeated over and over sounds like a laboured heartbeat

I love how you even used the horns so it matches the instruments of the OST. Phenomenal work, partner.

I love how the Track Cover embodies the nature of Disco Elysium as a piece of art. Can't wait for Part II of this game.

gotta love how the drums sound like frantic heartbeats.

"An unbelievable shot from the Lieutenant!" And that really is the only word to describe it, besides maybe "miraculous." That shot is truly unbelievable. You literally cannot believe that he could actually make that shot, knowing everything we do about his history with marksmanship. And yet, he makes it anyway, because Harry needed him to.

This art piece really encapsulates what made this moment work. In case you dont know, the full pic has two dice with a 6 rolled on them, the dice rolling is how you, the player, a human, interact with the world. You ~feel~ kim rolling the dice as he says "please, god" confirming that he is as much a player, as much a human, in this world, as you are. Except he doesnt get to reload a save and retry if he misses

Love the art. The spirit of Eyes guiding his partner through one last gun fight.

I appreciate this more and more every time I listen. The first piano notes coming in like an intake of breath. The horns of the city joining in. The swell of the strings at the end like muscles moving. The muted drum throughout sounding almost like a thudding heart, but more rhythmic-like a well-oiled machine. Man, it’s just… beautiful.

That’s SO good. I’ve almost teared up…. Want to play Disco Elysium again

The killer raises his military-grade firearm to his eyes covered by his military-grade armor and directs his military-grade aim towards Harry. 0.6 seconds. You have to aim the single shot you have with your muzzle-loading gun with your blasted useless binoclard eyes in 0.4 0.3 0.2 seconds and there's not enough time and- Bang. The nock cannon let's loose its volley. You were too late. Except- Through some incredible athletic prowess, or a miracle, you see six rounds pierce and tear not through Harry's flesh but through the absence of Harry's flesh, through the recently vacated space in the air where his chest occupied 0.6 seconds ago. The killer tilts his head. Lining up the next shot. Harry won't get lucky twice. Your hands are tight on the grip of your pistol, your ears ring from two gunshots. And he's going to die, blast it, he's going to die just like- Just like... You feel his presence, rather than see it. If your brain was processing rational thought right now, you might infer this is a hallucination brought on by the acute levels of stress your mind is being subjected to. But right now, he is real. He is there. And he is behind you. You know this in the depths of your bones and in the bottom of your heart like you know the ocean and sky are blue. And then, from over your right shoulder, his arm lines up with yours, and he says nothing, But he points. There is nothing else in the world right now. Just you, the gun, the eye behind the helmet, and a pointing finger. 1. "God, please..." (Pull the trigger.)

I may be reading too far into it, but I love what Kim's shot represents. The entire game feels incredibly pessimistic, though there are moments of hope and goodness sprinkled in. Just before this moment, you confront Rudy, and whether she kills herself or you let her go, you feel like a failure either way. The tribunal is where the two outlooks presented in the game finally butt heads: nihilistic pessimism and genuine hope. Nihilism is overwhelming, it wears impenetrable armor and you're just armed with a fucking flintlock pistol. Well, you aren't, you're bleeding out. Kim has the gun, Kim whose glasses are so thick they might as well be shot glasses. And his target is smaller than a quarter. If he misses, you, him, and the Hardie Boys are all dead, and nihilism wins. But if he hits, hope has a chance. "God, please."

When the trumpets came in. Made me flashback to my first play through.

[Hand-Eye Coordination - Impossible 20] Fire a shot into a visor of the abushing mercenary's helmet. -20 You need a miracle for this. Dice Roll - 6, 6. Hand-EYE Coordination: Miracle, delivered. GO FORTH.

My god I absolutely love this track, it perfectly conveys the moment, the moment I thought "okay, this needs some swelling strings right now" you come in with the strings, perfect, it immortalised the tribunal in my memory even though it wasn't in the game

I've had Disco Elysium in my backlog for a long time. Hearing this track inspired me to finally play it. An absolutely brilliant track, for an absolutely brilliant game.

Since you asked for feedback Could've used more pauses, more silence. Would've made every element of the composition even more meaningful and put more emphasis on the uncertainty and inner struggle. The piano part in the beginning could've been a broken melody (said silences, or "safe" transitions into silence, as if Kim was being actively discouraged by something), then with the Martinaise-esque trumpets it would rebuild, reimagine itself. Go ham, but in a shy and reserved manner, further stressing how heroic Kim's soul truly is. A real fighter, that one. All I'm saying is that I'd do it differently, with different goals in mind. But for what you've set out to do -- great job mate.
