There was no going back at that point. All of the gods were dead save one, and Zeus was so consumed by fear and paranoia that letting him rebuild the world would have only caused more destruction and pain. By killing the Olympians and sacrificing himself he put power in the hands of mortals, allowing them to rebuild and live without the gods breathing down their necks.

Funny because it is lost on most gamers that Athena didn’t really “die”. She was still alive as conscience at the end of the original God of War series.

23:54 is actually a very powerful moment, that I regret that skipped over so quickly. Kratos made peace with himself... that's a BIG deal given his motivation.

Zaakir Farooq Gaia is the mother of Kronos yes? And Kronos had a child with Rhea, named Zeus, Poseidon, Hades, etc... Therefore, Gaia is the kin to both Kratos and Zeus. I think someone else needs to look up instead.

Nah, GoW3 is just like its other previous games, only they improved is the graphic. If you gonna talk a game that is “ahead of it’s time” then Rdr1 is the answer. Also, its funny that rdr1 beats GoW3 in 2010 goty Rdr1 was ahead of it’s time

Got to give it to the god of war team, they knew how to make epicness. The whole franchise is awesome but the actual trilogy was absolutely awesome. Not just blood guts action, it had a brilliant storyline too. Fantastic series

i played the games as they came out and i remember the long and painful hype for the 3rd game, we were indeed very impressed because we had never seen god of war looking that god ever before. but you must be incredibly idiotic to place it anywhere near crysis 1 (2007) , gta 4 with mods (2009) , BF Bad Company 2 , Mafia 2 ... hell...even Assassin'S Creed 2 has nothing to envy God of War 3. What you mean is the art direction, God of War 3 nailed the elegancy of greek mythology perfectly because the graphics just match the enviroment perfectly, the beginning of the 10's is when developers started to use proper bloom and reflection in the 7th gen games, God of War mastered it , the metals (specially the golden ones) are shinny and have very good looking reflections, wet surfaces look very pleasent. But objectively speaking, Textures, Global Ilumination, Tessellation, POM, volumetric anything (clouds, shadows, particles) God of War 3 wasn't ahead of its time at all. You're just a sony fanboy that happens to enjoy god of war, you're not a god of war fan.

Playing this in the hardest difficulty with some badass background music was the best feeling.

I miss this Kratos, but at the same time he's come a long way.

You got the music to perfectly line up with the most epic part of the battle 17:42 onwards just fits so well. Really felt epic.

God I remember this game, it was for ps3 and it had ps7 graphics

Motterman1 in the first game when he opened Pandora's box to kill ares he gained the power to kill gods, also released all the evils inside which corrupted the gods (which is why the become cunts) Kratos never lost the power, it was just locked away inside him and he didn't know how to draw it out until the end

Fun fact the voice of Zeus in this game is the same voice for Count Dooku in the Clone Wars TV show.

In the end of God of War 3, Athena says Kratos had the power of Pandora's box the entire time since he had opened it in God of War 1. He gained the power of Hope when he 1st opened it.
