This fight is the pinnacle of the series. Everything is just so grand - from the music, to the atmosphere to the ending itself. Oh and it still holds up, 10 years later. Truly an amazing game.

I know this is an old comment, but if I remember, he was also the God of Judgment, and was actually loyal to Zeus, and is also foolish (the actual Greek God, Kratos), apparently, the creators never knew he was even an actual Greek God until GoW3's installment, so this was an odd accident.

Actually, while the name fits, it doesn't really fit. While the GoW developers do like to take their own interpretations on Greek lore, it's a sudden shift to say that Cratos, the son of Pallas and Styx, would suddenly be Kratos, son of Zeus. I think it's more accurate that the inspiration behind Kratos came from a prophecy in the Theogony, the story of how Greece came to be what it is. He was afraid of the prophecy that his first wife Metis would bear a son that would one day destroy him like him and his father Kronos. To avoid it, he absorbed Metis into him, which seemingly seems to work. However, in GoW, the prophesied destroyer has been born regardless.

(Don’t mistake my sentimentality for sarcasm) I really love how, as Zeus puts it, a construction of Hephaestus is able to earn Kratos’ protection and concern when actual innocent people he doesn’t even know get slaughtered by him. And remember that when Kratos had simply brought Pandora to open the box, he decided to figure out another way to open it, completely negating the whole point of finding her in the first place. It really makes you see Kratos as more than just a violent murderous brute and this was actually a starting point for him eventually caring for BOI- I mean, Atreus.

Pandora probably reminded him of Calliope. Kratos was never completely heartless, even in the first game you find out about the immense self-hatred he feels for himself over killing his family. He also cares for his soldiers in the second game, even if he used one's corpse to fight a boss. lol

@@rexknowsless3187 Atreus is Loki so he probably won’t make it out of the Norse trilogy. Kratos is the God of War, meaning it can’t be a God of War game without the God of War. Plus even if Thor or Odin kill Kratos in the next game he’ll just find a way back like he always does. Death is just an inconvenience for Kratos at this point.

We’re getting that in the next game. Meaning we’re getting fights against Freya, Thor, and possibly Odin.

Zeus is very tricky on Titan and Chaos mode. Forget button mashing. 1 misstep will guaranteed death. Using Spartan Rage (L3+R3) will guaranteed your death too, since you can't dodge as easily. And health wont replenish during 2nd round.

Just spam Triangle, and when Zeus is in the air, try Hyperion Grapple and try to grab him mid-air, if you do this a couple of times you'll have finished the boss fight in no time flat.

So basically in some ways, Kratos, the god of war, who was fueled by rage not only against the gods but also himself cause of guilt, finally learns to forgive himself and does the right thing by giving hope to everyone. No wonder he's calmer and collected in god of war 4. He forgave himself, and started a new life....until Baldur showed up. To be honest, if you take away all that shit that happened in his life, Kratos is pretty chill. Brok, Sindiri, and Mimir are probably the only three genuine friends he ever had.

There is something to be said about knowing how to brawl. Being a Bruce Lee kinda martial artist is not de only wae. Kratos has a horrifyingly brutal answer for EVERYTHING that gets thrown at him because he genuinely just knows how to fight. Fucking awesome

Its funny how Zeus the whole fight understimated Kratos and even was having fun (As you can tell from all his laught) but in the end, he was not counting with the power of hope 😅 Tbh neither was I the first time I played

When zeus said “dont fail her like u failed ur family” i got mad so hard i wanted ro throw my phone across the room

My Theory is that when Zeus destroyed his Weapons (except his Shoes, Blades of Exile and Blade of Olympus) Kratos absorbed their God Powers into himself as did he when he stabbed himself with the Blade of Olympus he absorbed his God Power back into himself, keeping a little tiny bit of the Hope Power while the rest was spread out into the World, also absorbed every bit of Power inside the Blade of Olympus and along his way to GoW4 he absorbed the Power of the Blades of Exile as they then probably just started vanishing like turning into dust and that's the Reason why afterwards he has the Blades of Chaos again (reason they are in their Level 1 Form because he absorbed their Power too but not Completly only like 90% and left 10% which is why they still Work in GoW4 and the Leveled up version there look better)

No in the novel it's says kratos can never truly get rid of the blades of chaos he threw them in the ocean and they returned the next day and they had the upgraded form it's just brok and Eitri kept improving them with their own craftsmanship.

Watching these make me hoping all theory and overshadowing about Kratos dead will be broken at GoW Ragnarok, he one of the best character ever make.

zeus got stabbed 3x by the blade of olympus in gow2 and still gets up like it's nothing while the other gods get one shotted also has a spirit form just in case his body gets messed up that's how op zeus is that's why kratos needed the power of hope cause he wouldn't be able to touch him

When he opens the box is such a Kung Fu panda moment 😂 there is no special ingredient. You have always had the power to kill a god. Just look at the list of God's you have killed leading to Zeus 😂

No thanks, it would bring way too much controversy or the studio would censor and cut a lot from the original games.

Even before the remasters this games graphics were ahead of its time.
