Let me be frank, look what Athena hide from Kratos about Deimos in GOW: Ghost of Sparta, she says she wants to keep Kratos live but Ares and Athena makes Deimos suffer after both of them put Deimos in the Temple of Thanatos, and Gods of Olympus doesn't wanna tell the truth bcz they're scared if Kratos find out about his family. For me, his vision try to help him not Athena.

Kratos would rather give out hope to the ruined Greece rather than give it to a God. Plus you see the blood at the end move away from the place where he stabbed himself to the edge of the cliff, leaving the satisfaction of an ending but letting there be an opening for any future sequels.

5:36 I pity this woman. She was supposed to be by our side since the first God of War. Athena acted as if she was Kratos's guiding light, his oracle, his protector. However she was no different than the other gods. These last few seconds sum up Kratos's hate for the gods in a neat little bow. Ares was one of the major contributors to the death of his family, Zeus had killed his own son in fear that he too would rise up against him like Zeus did with his father, Persephone was about to let all of Olympus crush the mortal realm for her own selfish reasons, and now Athena. She only wanted tbe power of Hope for herself, I'd imagine to reshape a destroyed world in her own image. However this does make you think: was she always like this? Did the evils within Pandora's box change her as well? Judging by the events of the previous games this may well be a possibility. Kratos has commited many unforgivable sins, that much is true. However I side with his hatred for the gods, and see it was justified. We owe you gods nothing, for you have wrought nothing but bloodshed and confusion upon I us. We mortals shall act on our own, for we do not need a world with gods.

His vengeance ends with killing his bad version, the monster, and his good version starts by escaping to another pantheon.

He is a man with a very sad story....

I like to believe that after everything, Kratos has some goodness in his heart.

Kratos became the god of hope after all.

"I made you a God!" Kratos only asked her to remove his nightmares, not a promotion. "I sheltered you from the wrath of Olympus!" She wasn't there when he was framed for killing Hera's pet (Betrayal) and getting stabbed by Zeus (II). "I delivered your revenge on Zeus." She barely did anything for the quest aside from fixing his blades (which Kratos can do. I mean he upgrades them with red orbs.) and info dump. If ever, it was Pandora who delivered by activating Hope that's been forever stuck inside Kratos.

Ma man such a badass he couldn't even kill himself.

Damn he actually left the blade of Olympus there, I actually thought he brang it too Midgard.

It is believed that Kratos had been stabbed with the Blade of Olympus; however after a three day search the Ghost of Sparta’s body has yet to be found (Cue extreme ways)

The world that was destroy was Sparta,both celtic,japanese,egyptian and norse are separate world with each go

Funfact: the reason he sacrificed himself, is to give hope to everyone in the world, but it turns out he survived his own attack

This is actually the second time he's died in the series, we all know what he did the first time, who's to say he couldn't escape the hands of death again

Your Waifu's best friend I'm just gonna go out on a limb and say that when he stabbed himself, he released hope back into the world of men in Greece and absorbed the Blade of Olympus's Power (his former power as the God of War). As for the underworld, with no one to ferry the souls of the dead down there or a God to oversee the underworld, that realm is basically impossible to go to unless you force yourself to the realm.

The Blade contained his God like power from when he replaced Ares when Zeus tricked him into placing it into the Blade he became mortal. When he impaled himself with the Blade it not only released hope into what was left of mankind but also gave Kratos his Godhood back.

You can tell there wasn't really an overarching plan for the trilogy, given that the excuse for hope not being released from Kratos in God of War 2 when Zeus stabbed him was that it was "trapped by his guilt."
