Just a friendly reminder that this is one guy on one drum, and he doesn't have anything propping him up like a soundtrack or anything. What an absolute beast. I can't even imagine playing an instrument like that for that long.

My youngest daughter was part of a program when she was in middles school in Dublin, Ohio, and got to train with him, along with 19 other students, in a first-of-its-kind Artist in Residency program. He had never done anything like that before in the USA and it was a priveledge to get to know him.

How many people know that drums were used when people sacrificed their infants and children to the fire burning furnace, unto the arms of Molek in Babylon. They drummed to cut the sounds of the screaming. Pretty disturbing. This maybe culture to some, but its origins are history either way.

drums are part of praise bands too, and they were used in ancient times as part of triumphal marches and part of religious festivals, and even in psalms beating drums is part of the music made to god?? drums are a pretty basic form of music for any culture. It's an animal skin stretched over a barrel. so why would you choose to be disturbed by them?
