Predestination is a problematic word ... Just like we do not have free will due to delimiters physically ... have to stand on at least one leg, we cannot be in two places at the same time, etc ... there are choice delimiters (options). For each decision, Allah creates the possible pathways (and all would be needed for those choices to come into existence) for those options and does not create other pathways ... and maybe only allowing for one outcome in others ... In this way, we have free will but only by those pathways He has created. This is how we have non-absolute free will ... but free will nonetheless ... and be within Allah's Divine Will and of course in His absolute knowledge. Allah knows best.

So there's no free will then and it's all predestined then?

Someone Else free will is predestined. We are predestined to have free will. God is not bound by time. God is not within time. God is timeless, when we understand this, everything regarding contradictions of free will are gone

A man is deciding between ordering a chocolate or vanilla milkshake. He decides on the vanilla. If Allah was "behind" this decision (if he is behind everything) then this wasn't a free choice. If Allah knew he would pick vanilla (knowing everything and as you put it is "not bound by time") then this implies that this was the only way this could happen, meaning he could not have picked the chocolate and therefore this still is not a free choice. If everything that happens happens according to Allah's plan, and if nothing can go against this plan, then this STILL isn't a free choice.

This also applies to Allah btw. If there is only one way things can go, then Allah can't change the future or his own thoughts or decisions about it.

Anyone that has read the Qur'an with basic common sense will understand that it is quite clear that we humans make choices that are our own and then face consequences of them in this life and the hereafter, Allah has a plan in which he allows somethings to happen and does not allow certain other things to happen. At all times, we have choices that we make. We alone are responsible for them and not God. One has to actually read the Qur'an to understand what it is saying and what it is implying in this matter.

優さん , are you sure about that? Qur'an 2:7 *God has set a seal* on their hearts and on their hearing; and on their eyes is a veil; Great is the punishment they incur Qur'an 2:17-18 Their similitude is that of a man who kindled a fire; when it lighted all around him, *God took away their light and left them in utter darkness. So they could not see.* Deaf, dumb and blind, they will not return (to the path). Qur'an 6:39 Those who reject our signs are deaf and dumb - in the midst of profound darkness: *whom God wills*, he leaves to wander: Whom he wills, he places on the way that is straight. Qur'an 6:107 If it had been God's plan, they would not have taken false gods: but we made you not to watch over their doings, nor are you set over them to dispose of their affairs. Qur'an 6:125 Those whom God (in his plans) wills to guide - he opens their hearts to Islam: Those whom he wills to straying - *He makes* their chest constricted, as if they had to climb up to the skies: Thus God (heaps) the penalty on those who refuse to believe. He closed their hearts to Islam and punishes them for not believing. Qur'an 7:100-101 Those who inherit the Earth in succession to it's (previous) possessors, is it not a guiding lesson that We, *if We so Willed*, we could punish them too for their sins and seal up their hearts so that they could not hear? Such were the towns whose story We thus relate to you; there came indeed to them their messengers with clear (signs) but they would not believe what they had rejected before. Thus does God seal up their hearts of those who reject faith. Qur'an 7:146 Those who behave arrogantly on the Earth in the defiance of right - *I will turn them away from my signs* even if they see all the signs, they will not believe in them, and if they see the way of error, that is the way they will adopt. For they have rejected Our signs, and failed to take warning from them. Yeah, of course they failed to take warning, an all powerful being has taken their free will away! Here's a few more, just for the hell of it (pun intended): Qur'an 7:175-178 Relate to them the story of the man to whom We sent Our signs, but he passed them by: so Satan followed him up, and he went astray. If it had been Our will, We should have elevated him with Our signs; but he inclined to the earth, and followed his own vain desires. His similitude is that of a dog: if you attack him, he lolls out his tongue, or if you leave him alone, he (still) lolls out his tongue. That is the similitude of those who reject Our signs; So relate the story; perchance they may reflect. Evil as an example are people who reject Our signs and wrong their own souls. Whom Allah doth guide,- he is on the right path: whom He rejects from His guidance,- such are the persons who perish. Qur'an 10:99-100 *If it had been thy Lord's will, they would all have believed*,- all who are on earth! wilt thou then compel mankind, against their will, to believe! *No soul can believe, except by the will of Allah, and He will place doubt (or obscurity) on those who will not understand*. (Most of these are from the Yusef Ali translation I think btw) Qur'an 13:31 (second half) Do not the Believers know, that, *had Allah (so) willed, He could have guided all mankind (to the right)?* Qur'an 16:106-108 Any one who, after accepting faith in Allah, utters Unbelief,- except under compulsion, his heart remaining firm in Faith - but such as open their breast to Unbelief, on them is Wrath from Allah, and theirs will be a dreadful Penalty. This because they love the life of this world better than the Hereafter: and Allah will not guide those who reject Faith. Those are they whose hearts, ears, and eyes Allah has sealed up, and they take no heed. Why God so pissy, that they take no heed when he made so they no take heed? Last one: Qur'an 17:97 *It is he whom Allah guides, that is on true Guidance; but he whom He leaves astray* - for such wilt thou find no protector besides Him. On the Day of Judgement We shall gather, them together, prone on their faces, blind, dumb, and deaf: their abode will be Hell: every time it shows abatement, We shall increase from them the fierceness of the Fire. So after turned the knob on the magical unbelief dials, Allah will punish this unbelief by turned up the knob on the “fire fierceness” scale. Conclusion: according to Islam, a Muslim is a Muslim because it is God's will, and a non-Muslim is a non-Muslim according to God's will. Therefore Allah has decided ahead of time who will burn and who will not.
