Moses’ commanded in Deuteronomy 24:1-2 that whenever a man sends his wife away, he must give her a certificate of divorce that makes her eligible to marry another. This command was given as a protection for women. Women in that era depended on male strength for protection and manpower to raise crops and basic provision for life. Marriage and family provided that protection. If a man simply dismissed and sent his wife away, she was helpless and unable to remarry without a certificate of divorce. Even though she was dismissed, she was still legally married to her husband. But if he gave her a certificate of divorce when he sent her away, she could demonstrate that she was eligible for marriage.

God can forgive divorce. Remember the story about the woman at the well.

Yes. The Lord also commands that the Christian remain unmarried after divorce, unless he or she is willing to be reconciled to the first spouse. "To the married I give this charge (not I, but the Lord): the wife should not separate from her husband (but if she does, she should remain unmarried or else be reconciled to her husband), and the husband should not divorce his wife." (1 Corinthians 7:10)

I am 68 yo and was married and divorced twice, when my new Wife came along, i asked God is this the right choice for me? He answered, you chose the other 2, I chose this one. That was 4 years ago and i have never been happier in my whole life walking with God with my Bride. We are Blessed.
