I've done this hike 7+ times. My absolute favorite. Iron Creek trail head. approx 7mi. up and 7 down. I thought the lake was way to high to fish in...we are going again this weekend and I'll be bringing my poll.

How was the fishing? I see lots of fish in most those lakes near 9k'. And I believe it's just over 7 miles roundtrip.

where is goat lake at? what is the closest town?

The sound from the fish was caused by the fisherman squeezing its swim bladder, a gas filled organ used by the fish to swim vertically within the water column. Not sure if that's what the guy told you, I could not quite hear him.

Very interesting, thanks for the information! I think "the guy" thought the fish was in pain.
