🐐 ❤️ Goat Breeding Begins (+ tip) AND a SURPRISE for the Goats!

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

Up in the beautiful summers and cold winters of Montana, we raise Mini-Nubians. I'm currently milking 6 goats. I've milked my Nigerian Dwarf, Opal continuously for 1.5 years. So last winter I milked without a break like I usually take! But we had fresh milk all winter long. 😋
The milking process starts when breeding begins. We can't have milk without cute baby goats! I'm breeding to two 6th Generation Mini-Nubians. My does range from one Nubian and several 1st generation to several 4th Generation.
And today we also got a super fun surprise for the goats! It was fun to put up and fun to watch them with it!

Always something to do! Junior bucks often aren't popular with the mature does. I wonder if our young equivalent to Frappe is going to get the job done. We will see. We have never used cable spools for the goats but I have heard that it is a good idea to cover up the holes on top so that they don't break a leg while playing on them.

He’s bred one doe since this video…so hopeful she caught the first time! And yes! The holes will be covered! That’s the first thing I thought of when we put them there!

We used Prince when he was about as big as Frappe, and he got the job done, so I’m almost positive we don’t have anything to worry about.

We got them from our local Hutterites. They didn’t need them anymore. I’m honestly not sure where they got them. I can’t remember if they have a brand name of them or not They are very nice…and light!

@DelcifromALifeofHeritage My wife and I had to chuckle, because we thought you were speaking of a local retailer in Montana. We are only familiar with Amish and Mennonite. We did find some like it online, but they were around $500!!!😱

@@jimmcknight3021 oh wow! That is a lot! We got them for much less because they were used. And Hutterites are in many ways like Amish and Mennonite. We have a handful of colonies that live around us. 😂

I have three Nigerian dwarf girls and they're about a month out from having their kids. I will be milking them. He is currently separated from them. How long can you actually keep the buck in there with them before pregnancy without affecting the milk

My bucks are right next door to my does year around and I’ve never noticed that the milk is affected. Some swear it is! But not for us and my customers have never complained about off milk.
