Goa oldest method of cooking sannas, this is how to make White Sanas in a steamer called Chodor, with step by step cooking. Never seen before on You Tube.
Sannas are spongy steamed savoury rice cakes. Are very popular In Goan, Mangalore in Karnataka and some parts in Kerala and in the East Indian community in Bombay.
In Goa Sanas are cooked for weddings, festivals and auspicious occasions.
Main ingredients are Toddy, Coconut and Rice, and a steamer Traditionally called Chodor, rarely people has nowadays.

I finally found the authentic way to make sannas. I will make this. Also I might add that it is so refreshing to hear you speak Konkani. My Pai would speak with us. I miss him very much. Thank you for making this Sannas.

Wow really reminds me the olden n golden days when I used to help my mother steaming these kinds of goan sannas specially for the church st feasts. My mother still has this chodro when I used to clean this chodro untill it looks like new... I still also remember my grandma was having of mud type. Well just old memories never to b forgotten as u do. Hats off bro. Keep going

Great recipe. However, unfortunately here in the UK we don’t get toddy. So, is there any other substitute that we can use in place of toddy?

Hi... I love sanna... Thanks for sharing d recipe....n traditional way...... I saw video.... They use yeast which is not Gd for health.... N it's not traditional way..... So using toddy is the traditional way..... I'm from Goa... Bt I don't find any contact of person selling toddy..... If u hv anyone..... Please reply......

The yeast is used cause toddy not available abroad in all countries... Here in gulf not available..people use Sprite instead

You have not mentioned that you have to ferment the paste for 6 to 8 hours. Before steaming them.
