Of course they don’t actually fully work if you can’t properly catch a ball, when i was younger I used to put hair wax on my gloves to add some stick to the ball when caught but of course it’s not going to do anything if you can’t catch them

Catching doesnt just matter about the gloves the best keepers can catch the hardest of balls with really bad gloves because what also matters is technique.

Actually having extra sticky gloves can be bad, especially when you throw the ball to teammates. I have witnessed own goals scored this way and also unwanted passes to opponents.

What I do: after each training I wear my gloves in the shower. I put them away in my bag and put my bag out of the sunlight. Before each training/match wet the gloves keep them flexible. This will keep them good for a long time. *Never* 1) try to dry gloves on a radiator 2) keep with dry gloves (they will rip faster) 3) put them in the washing machine

As a current grassroots goalkeeper/ I have played higher levels. I would totally recommend the mega grip formula. I've been using it since it's released and 100% effective for me. Although I do find in damp or wet conditions it does need extra sprays during a game followed by a pat dry. I use this product in all my games and have one of the best records for clean sheets in my precious year

I wouldn't do any of these hacks as a goalkeeper myself These hacks could destroy the latex or worsen the durbailty If you want the best performance and durability out of a glove I would buy a high tier glove and wash it regularly.

Yes the glove glue and keeper balm is illegal. In any real game u will receive a red card and will shortly be kicked off the field.

Yes it is illegal it is rule 12 from the book of goalkeeping you will be sent a red card if the referee will see it also if you are a keeper just train your footwork your timing and your hands do 2 finger pushups 3 finger pushups trust me thats what we do in bayern fc if your fingers are strong you may controll if not then the ball is in control of you keep that in mind

This is pointless. Do the tests with old beat up gloves, and actually hit the ball hard. If he can hold a hard, driven shot with old gloves, than that’s a review. THis is basically just a review of new gloves with random stuff on it

I've been using Keeper Balm for years. You need to put it on after the gloves have been cleaned and let them sit for a day or so. The balm really conditions the gloves and restores the grip. I would not recommend putting it on a few mins. before a game.

Are you smoking? We all give Neuer the credit he deserves, if anything De Gea doesn’t get his fair share of credit. De Gea saves United week in and week out, but people always make excuses to not give him credit. United have mediocre defenders while Bayern and Neuer have absolute world class defenders helping him. Yes, Neuer is a great keeper and so is De Gea, but I think with the position De Gea is, he definitely has been the best goalkeeper in the world at the moment.

Unfortunately, as some have alluded to previously, the quality of the glove makes a massive difference. Additionally, the quality of the technique makes a difference too. For this to have had any worth as a test, then you needed a ball serve machine, to reduce variability in the delivery; identical gloves from the same manufacturing batch; identical air speed, pressure and humidity. Personally, I highly recommend Glove Glu Mega Grip. My lad uses it and in combination with Uhlsport Absolut Grip+ Bionik + gloves it is superb. When his gloves were new and they were sprayed, he found a little difficulty when kicking from his hands in releasing the ball. Glove Glue really makes a difference in muddy conditions. Glove maintenance is also important. Washing your gloves after every use using a proprietary brand glove wash is vital. This "re-charges" the grip and conditions the latex. Storage is also important. Don't store your gloves near any source of heat and if you buy a decent pair of gloves (£80 upwards) store them in the sleeve they came in. Lastly, as others have stated, practice using the "W" and practice absorbing the impact by pulling your arms into you once you've made contact with the ball. Practice, practice, practice!
