Some goalie penalties I would be on their side but my goodness some goalies just loose it completely over a non big situation.

Finnish Goalies either end up in the NHL or in jail for assault, no exceptions.

That first clip, Lassila didnt try to hit Gratton in face, it was accident that stick did rise up so high, he did say sorry after, gratton said to forget it, its just hockey. I remember watching this one live. Google Josh Gratton face, this will stay in his face, lucky he didnt lose eye or worse. Good spirit from Gratton. :)

The goalies in other countries don’t have as much impulse control as in the NHL apparently I love it

Lmao two different clips from my hometown teams. I was actually watching live at the 2:40 game. It was played just when corona was about to mess everything up. Atleast the game was good :D

the one at 6:40 is a horrible jersey matchup. red&white jerseys with red pants vs. white&red jerseys with red pants.

Yeah, that's why every team should have an alternate uniform. Sadly, those are not very common in the Czech league.

First one was pretty brutal.

Liking the European hockey content. Not something which gets a lot of airtime on English speaking / American media. These guys are nuts

That first one is borderline illegal. Like with the actual law. I know there are cases in Canada where charges are brought for doing things like that.

Nah. Teemu Lassila (The goalie in the clip) got only a 7 game suspension. To be fair people got really upset with that in Finland, demanding a longer suspension.

Imagine being the guy at 1:43, and being remembered for getting absolutely bodied by the goalie

Hitting a player with your blocker is an automatic suspension, no matter the situation. Happened to me once.

The entire video is basically lumberjack and cheep-shot goalie edition then you get to the last one and wonder what the hell the ref was thinking.

The announcer in that clip says that there is a rule that if the goalie is not under pressure, he has to play the puck and is not allowed to hold on to it. So the goalie stopped the puck, then decided to play it and then held on to it again "without being under pressure from the opposite team". I hope my explanation is understandable. English is not my first language ^^ Does that rule not exist in the NHL? I am not really familiar with hockey rules

Why are these goalies always so shocked they're getting ejected. I mean if I took a goalie hockey stick and smacked it across your face anywhere but an ice rink during a game I'd be arrested 😂😂 why tf was he surprised about getting kicked out

Most of the time they’ll stay on the ice and their teammate will sit the box for them but if it’d a ten minute the goalie gets ejected and the backup comes in

Call me old fashioned, but I think goalies should be allowed to do most of this stuff. Tough break on the guy who had the net come loose. That post came off way too easy.

Oh fuck me. Finnish ice hockey represented in these videos in the worst possible way. I don't know what was going through the goalie's head in the first one...

Shit like this is why nobody should respect goaltenders, they always think they're invincible and they can get away with anything.

Some of those penalties r some bull. Goalies should be able to stick up for themselves if someone is in their paint. But those other ones I would understand a penalty like the one where the goalie swings his stick at someone’s face. But like if someone is poking at it when the goalie has it covered the guy poking at it should get a penalty not the goalie.

It's funny how most of these penalties wouldn't happen if they called the original penalty on the player. Most of these are consequences of missed goalie interference calls.

Ok lets go though the videos then. Video 1: No interference. Just pure dirty and the goalie should be banned. Video 2: No Interference. Though the penalty could be seen from both sides. Video 3: No interference. Hell the goalie got called for interference. Video 4: No interference. Goalie outside of his crease. Video 5: Maybe interference. But the childish retaliation gets called. Video 6: No interference. Just like video 1 where the goalie should get banned for that. Video 7: Definitely interference. Yet again though, don't retaliate. Video 8: Debatable interference. Player seemed to be hit into the goalie. (Moral of the story, don't throw stuff at the refs) Video 9: No interference. The player fell but stopped well before the goalie. The goalie even had to extend his arms in order to grab the player. Video 10: No interference. Again, don't throw stuff at the refs. Video 11: Maybe interference. Player seems to be hit into the goalie again but that had to be one of the most dirty plays I've seen a goalie make in a while excluding the 1st and 6th clip. Video 12: Not even sure why that one was a penalty. Still no goalie interference. So 1/12 videos was definitely interference and 3/12 where maybe. That makes 4/12 videos. Therefore we have 8/12 videos of goalies being idiots. Seems like quite a disparaging ratio of goalies being in the wrong. (fun fact, just because a player runs into or touches a goalie does not make it goalie interference)

Why cover your sweater in advertisements, The european hockey sweaters look like a rolled up pieces of newspaper. logo's everywhere.
