The thumbnail went through lots of iterations, I'm glad you enjoyed it.

in my shrine deck, i included cards like sakashima and spark double, along with anointed procession-esque cards, so that i make several more shrine tokens, as well as all the creature tokens that the deck can make. recently, i added alela and shark typhoon, and they make for very fun additions to the deck! shrines are an extremely fun theme for enchantments, and i’ve always loved on-board shenanigans. i would recommend putting privelaged position/ greater auramancy in the deck as well to softlock your opponents in combination with each other and sterling grove

Personally, been running Austere Command in place of Farewell in my version of this deck but I also leaned heavier into the token sub-theme the shrines have so being able to miss those with a wrath is more valuable to me. It also gives you great turns where you blow up all enchantments only to throw down an Eerie Ultimatum and laugh.

I organize them according to when they trigger. All my hondens go together because they upkeep trigger, sanctums (except the white one) trigger on the main phase, and then the go shintai's trigger on the end... I have the ever so popular enchantress shell and that decks just explodes on the table. It's actually kinda nutty

I used Sisay Weatherlight Captain as the commander for the Shrine Deck for over a year. I'll be happy to switch to the new commander, but: The greatest weakness of the deck back then was that you didn't have enough creatures and were overrun so often, meaning it always took a while for the enchantment engine to get going. I tried to get more upkeep with Paradox Haze, but since the shrines activate at different stages, it didn't work. Games Heaven has just hosted a game and Esmond was trying to get extra moves with time warp etc which surprisingly worked quite well. Have a look.

I did check out the Games Haven video. I think in general, taking extra turns is generically good in almost any deck, I do shy away from them in deck techs because players don't like them. However if your play group is good with then, by all means go for it. Yeah, this deck does take a while to get started and there is a risk of just falling too far behind. But when it goes, it goes on hyperdrive.

Yeah I'm up in BC Canada and I was lucky enough to open go shintai AND the token in the one set box I got and I've been slowly throwing some cards in a pile to build it before long

Go-shintai of lost wisdom can self-mill for life's origin's reanimate ability, at the very least

That's what makes it one of the best imo, its like drawing that many cards.

The blue go shintai is probably the best one imo it mills and you target yourself and you get back enchantments with your commanders activated ability I’ve achieved sterling grove locks because of it

my copy of sanctum of all doesn't say non token shrines. it counts tokens as shrines which makes it even more sick! Great video.

You are correct, usually only the non-token Shrine cards have triggers. But you can copy Shrines with Mirror Box and have them trigger too with Sanctum of All.

Recommendation. Add Ghen so you can sac the blue honden to prevent decking yourself. And debtors knell to rescue ghen is removed.

I think the new Shrines are great and not as bad as people think they are. I played the prerelease and some competitive draft games and these shrines were so good, them being creatures helped me win some of the games that I played.

I do agree, if you can get multiple shrines in a limited deck, they are nuts!

Love these decs. As one point of of friendly criticism I think you need more counter magic. We have to we have to counter cards like cyclonic rift or mass enchantment removal, we can’t beat those cards at all. Farewell on enchantment is devastating.

I'm not a fan of extra counter magic, I just let the game play out as is. I usually try to run protection spells like Teferi's Protection, etc.

@@vex_mtg that’s an interesting take on counterspells. I personally feel the are crucial. Or the first person to cast an 8/9 mana spell will just win the game. Tef Prot is obviously very good and far more powerful than your average counter magic.

something i am thinking of doing is using blink enchantments such as nahiri’s resolve to blink my shrines and get go-shintai’s triggers again.

I've built a really fun nasty Go-shintai deck. I went with a plan b wincon with Purphoros, hondens Life's Web and the other that makes tokens. I'd like to say about the Shrine tokens. Have you looked into altered sleeves or just printing decent proxies? I know they'll drop in price once wizards fix the issue.

Purphoros is a sweet card, he's hard to remove. I did think about printing a proxy token, but my printer broke. I've also used the label maker for other things on the channel so I decided to stay on theme a bit.

Discarding shrine for stone heights isn’t too bad since the commander can bring them back easy

I would replace the non-green triome with green ones, basically have all 6 green tri-lands.

As long as you don't cut the Shrines but everything else is fair game.

Mill yourself with Go-Shintai of Lost Wisdom, so you can net extra Shrines from the graveyard with your commander. Just be wary of Grave hate.

Indeed, I always forget the second part of Go-Shintai.

If you discard a shrine card you can bring it back with go shintai of life’s origin, sanctum of all, and more the land is gone gone

That is true.

Sigil of the empty throne says "play" not cast so making shrine tokens will trigger it.

No you don't "play" tokens so the shrines won't trigger sigil of the empty throne. Think of setessan champion and verduran enchantress. Set champ triggers when an enchantment ETB's and enchantress triggers when you PLAY an enchantment spell, which sounds like an entirely different thing when compared to satyr enchanter, that let's you draw when you CAST an enchantment... I don't mean to get confusing, but I think you get my point

Incorrect, “play” means “cast”

Actually the U.S boxes did get the shrine tokens, at least some did cause I had an English set booster box and I pulled 2 of the tokens in mine

I will admit it's really pretty, much cuter than my hacked one.

Shoot i thought shrine was a new creature type i was gonna make a deck with changelings and stuff that makes all creatures a certain type

Unfortunately, not a creature type, I know it's confusing, but I guess that's how it works. It would probably be broken if it was a creature type.
