Ahhhh that Hikaru no Go board is so cute!! 😍😍 I also really like the first board you showed us. It definitely has a satisfying sound when you tak tak tak XD Thank you for showing us!

Those are some very impressive prices. I second the request of others for an affiliate link for purchases. Also I liked the difference in your two boards. In my country there is a saying that goes "one is not enough, two is too much" meaning that it is hard to find the balance, so in order to try for balance, my board is in the middle between the thickness of the two boards you showed :P

My first (and only board) is a plastic foldable magnetic board. Its not too fancy but it holds up and is easy to carry. My dream board is one of those big thick boards with legs! I think they look so cool! I also now really want that Hikaru no Go board and stone set!

Ah I like how your lighter board has that 13x13 on the back, I think I will get one like that for helping to teach my friends.

I have similar one to the first board you showed. I don't need like a crazy board with legs but a thick tabletop board is nice :D

That's great I run a couple home made boards , one folding one for travel 19x19 with 13x13 on the back with the thick flattened type of stones you use. Also an older homemade board with glass stones I got from the local flower shop. I've made a few boards for the nephews and one of my kid's friends ... those ladies gave make a lot of stones. My wife gave me a Goban that is about 3" thick (75mm) and hollow with some Japanese style melamine stones. I am able to hide the stones and a 13 road board with a 9 road board on the back. Looks great but doesnt give the nice sound . The board is far more beautiful than my playing.

Bonjour 연우 ! I appreciated a lot the Korean serie called "the Pricess Ki". Some important people play Baduk and use very ordinary stones without regular form. Only the color matters.

I'm so surprised by this video ^^ I like go even if I'm not courageous enough to study it seriously and I'm having similar stuff (of slightly lesser quality, especially on stones) but I'm always so tempted by very thick boards and I'm always telling myself that I'll offer myself a nice one when I'll (if I ever) reach 1d :D I can't even imagine the stuff I would like to have if I were a pro player XD

At first I didn't realize the difference in sound in gobans, but when you hit that stone against the thinner(lighter) board. The sound was actually offensive to me. The sound of thickness is so much better.

I'd always start in the corner with the dog bite. It is probably easier to kill invasions when the opponent can never play 1-1.

I am curious about the thicker stones. Do you have to apply oil between plays to keep them healthy? When using stones that are made of slate or clam or Yunzi, is the oil wiped off or even washed off before playing? My assumption is yes. The information online from sellers is a bit unclear how that is managed. Any sharing of how your stones are maintained would be useful. Thanks for a great channel!! 😃

  • @courtofcrows

Someone else might be able to offer better advice, but from what I researched, it's only the slate stones that should be oiled, and it's only needed when they start to look white-ish/chalky. For shell stones, the best maintenance should be no oil at all (which is why it's recommended that they're wiped after every game, to get the oil from your hands off). That said, I'd be surprised if people did that every time they touched the stones. 😅 I just keep my hands clean and wash them both every few months or so in water and soap or dish detergent. I have no idea about Yunzi, though!
