Wonderfully narrated, thank you so much. And, amazing that he's kept his (important) job for over 3 decades! Much respect.

I visited Fountains Abbey in my early 20s, and it was one of the main reasons, a decade later, that I'm pursuing a degree and career in archaeology. Breath-taking place on the surface, fascinating beneath.

Visited the Abbey today. Wow, sooo BEATIFUL. We're lucky with the weather which meant the reflection of light was mesmerising. Thank you for maintaining the whole site and the grounds 🍁🇹🇷

32 years - you lucky, lucky man! I visited Fountains Abbey for the first time this summer (2003) and words fail to describe it. It is magical, peaceful, reflective, and an utter joy to visit. I see you were there in the throws of winter. I would imagine it is very calming, and again peaceful in the winter months. What a joy you must experience working there - I sure hope you never, ever, become complacent about where you work - many of us could only dream of such a wonderful site to work at. I enjoyed this very much. Thank you. I have often wondered of the nine levels of hell - the evil Henry VIII was sent to - because all the pain and suffering and murder he committed assured him a fast-track entry there.

I flew over in my Cessna 172 the other day and had no idea what this was. I don't live near it but sort of noticed from 2,400ft and it does look nice. It's in that remote of a location I very nesrly landed the plane in one of the open fields to take a quick look. But it's all farm land and not worth the hassle. If I'm ever this way again in my car I'll pop in and check it out for half hour. Looks stunning 😊
