Very entertain review Peter. Bit short on the fresh water capacity, and a bit light on cargo carrying capacity. But the price is ok. They are almost there for a long trip to foreign climbs. Thank you for dedication.

Interesting choice of tabletop reading material Peter. I’m referring to the Orwell book of course, which I am also about to read. A good choice given the way things are going! The van is great too - as was the presentation.

Cracking 4x4 campervan. I think I'd prefer this one over the Hymer crossover panel van. The extra length just to accommodate that dining table. Great review as ever 👍

It would be interesting to see the 6 metre version which would appeal to younger people without a C1 licence or those approaching 70 who don't fancy faffing about renewing their C1 entitlement. I suspect that it would also be more affordable. It's a shame that they haven't added at least a small/grill for the UK market.

The 6m version is much more compromised, especially in the lounge, and isn't a lot cheaper. You can see it in standard (not K-Peak) trim here - www.outandaboutlive.co.uk/reviews/campervans/yucon-6-0-bd-high-top

@@MotorhomeCampervan I see what you mean.I wouldn't want to be paying £85,000 plus various options for such a small lounge/dining space. It would be cramped even for the two of us.

Very nice nice van. I off grid camp all the time. The. For that price I would expect a good kitchen layout. 2 gas rings for 4 people is very limited. it would be a deal breaker for me. There are campervans. Half that money with better kitchen set up. Great video though.

There are cheaper campervans with more kitchen kit (not 4x4s or Mercs!) but more kit equals less storage, so it's all about priorities. This is typical for a European 'van. As for two gas rings - do you often use more at the same time?

I think you'd end up spending more with Hymer and for any serious off-roading I'd prefer a van-based model (steel body, shorter rear overhang, narrower and without plastic skirts, etc, that could easily be damaged).

For the price, I expected some more thought and better design in this. Some of those little things you can overlook in cheaper options, but you don't expect to run into those when you're paying this much for a van. I do think that 99.9% of motorhomes never need 4x4. It's mainly for the 'cool' factor.

  • @MotorhomeCampervan

The price here is largely accounted for by the base vehicle. Few might need 4x4 - I've been to the Sahara and Norway in winter without - but there's increasing demand for it from really adventurous customers.

There are plenty of more affordable 'vans on the channel (as well as more expensive ones!). If filet steak is £25 in one restaurant and £50 in another, then the £25 one is surely "good value"? That's the case here, it's not cheap but, compared with other 4x4 Mercedes campers, it's good value. Some rivals are over £200k. If you unsubscribe you'll miss our comparison of four campervans costing £25k to £30k, which is coming up next. We aim to cover all price points, for all types of buyer.
