I remember reading a book written by the natural born 1/2 sister of Scott Peterson. She would visit him often in jail. They always spoke about Murder She Wrote because Scott was able to watch it in jail (he was awaiting trial). She was trying to bond with him and I guess get him to open up. That way she could write a "tell-all" book.

This was delightful. I like the first season episodes as well. Leslie Nielsen and Jess "playing to the cheap seats" is always worth the price of admission. I love the show, too! Here in the US it used to be on Netflix, but I now watch it on britbox through Amazon prime. We're behind on season 10. They're releasing them every week on Tuesdays. We've got 4 episodes so far. I'm really saying this for anyone in the US actually interested and reading this.

I really love Murder in Paradise. I did not care for the first detective- the one who also played Professor T, and he plays basically the same character- but all the others since then have been really charming and all rather unique. I haven't seen it but there is a spinoff with the second detective, who appeared on Pirates of the Caribbean, in London. It might be fun.

I think the "Desensitisation" when it comes to murder mysteries is a bit of an inherent trait of the genre. If you think about the beginnings of it, society back then was probably a bit unnerved by the consumption of murder stories for entertainment. But I guess the more popular the genre became, the more ways the writers and consumers found to make it more casual and it became less weird for regular, you know, non-murderous people to enjoy it. Maybe it's comparable to horror movies nowadays, which are already consumed way more casually than they were like 30 years ago, 15 years ago. Yea, being trapped in a Saw puzzle would be a pretty bad day, but I'm still gonna munch popcorn and enjoy watching the movies, you know? rambling off

All those ancient Greek and Roman plays and myths got sanitised like crazy to become the fun heroic tales every kid knows, and in the centuries after that executions used to draw huge crowds. People have been bloodthirsty fans of messy drama for a very long time, interspersed with occasional bouts of prudishness that very quickly leads to suspiciously enthusiastic punishment. I feel like the fact we're somehow still captivated by a murder while largely rejecting the body is quite a strange phenomenon. Mind you, "true crime" has gotten very big, perhaps we're looking for a bit of blood again.

You don’t know me, and I don’t know you beyond what you show us in the videos, which means that this could come off as very, very weird. That being said I’m going to say it anyway: I genuinely enjoy your videos and they way they allow me to, for a brief period, forget the world and go back to a time when things were simple and I could just enjoy a silly old mystery show with my mother. I understand that you, like me, have often dealt with issues of Depression and Anxiety. And that those feeling might make it feel like what you’re doing here isn’t worth it or making any impact. But I want you to know that it is worth it and it is making a impact. Even if it’s only 13 minutes of nostalgic joy and comfort for one person. Anyway. Sorry that was weird. Just seemed important to say.
