In the Hills Ocean Village live the Paiwan people. The future leader of their tribe is a little girl named Muni. Along with her best friend, Maimai the black bear, the two attend the Flying Squirrel School. Another student at the school, Giwas, becomes jealous of Muni’s humble mature personality and her future role as leader of a tribe. Giwas is shocked to discover that Muni is envious of her as well. In an attempt to form a better bond Muni invites Giwas, and a group of students from the school, to Hills Ocean Village. There they learn the tribes culture, scientific knowledge and fun tribe games. With everyone learning and playing together they grow to become kindred spirits.
