As a kid I always interpreted this show as being a sort of prequel to Dora, since his voice sounded higher and he looked shorter here than when he would appear in Dora. To me he seemed a decent amount older than Dora in her show, while here he seemed to be closer to Dora’s age.

I remember when my father used to not allow me to watch Dora the Explorer for a few years as a child cause they thought it was for girls so go Diego go was my alternative choice for Dora the Explorer sometimes but my dad never knew that go Diego go was a spin off of Dora the Explorer if he did find out he would forbid me from watching Diego if he saw me watching a Diego episode with dora in it

Nostalgia hit me like a bus.

When I was small, my parents got me out of bed by saying Diego was on TV. It still works.

In my spanish class, our teacher had us pick out a spanish name that would represent us for the rest of the time she has us in her classes. I picked Diego :)
