I like when they do that in our dub. In the old cartoons of Asterix and Obelix they had the Romans speak in a Roman dialect and often the legionnaires would speak in Genoan, Venetian or other random dialects out of nowhere

There’s also the dog whose appearance prompts Juliet’s initial disguise, who as he tries to get into the red garden, is pulled away by his owner who tells him to get “Out, out, damn’d spot!”
"This is the frog but for the guy" is kinda how it worked for the characters in the original play; Romeo and Juliet each had their bros or caretakers who ultimately started shit or facilitated the romance.

Fun fact in italy this movie is dubbed in many of our dialects, the red gnomes are dubbed in a southern dialect such as sicilian and neapolitan and the blue gnomes are dubbed in northen dialects like the one from Turin and Milan. And its the funniest thing in the world

On second thought this could just be because that is what is expected to happen, because her legs were fucking super glued, and your brain puts those peices together, and thinks that her legs should've been broken off, because I don't remember the ending after her legs gets broken off. Still freaking me out though, if anyone else has an explanation lmk.

@@cruximee i honestly didn't expect anyone else would have a memory of this that's so interesting !! i think that makes sense though, it seems like it could've happened with the fact she'd been glued down, so that - probably coupled with the other instances of people being shattered or losing a piece of them in the film - could've planted that image in my fuzzy memory of the film

I’m a high school English teacher and taught Romeo and Juliet to my freshman. At the end of the unit, I had to watch this movie five times within the span of three days. I almost lost my mind 😂

This movie is made by rocket films which is the production company for owned by Elton John! It’s also the same production company that made his bio pic “Rocketman” I got to see Elton live for one of his last shows and while singing one of his songs he had some of his works playing on the screens, Rocketman, lion king, and to my delete gnomes and Juliet 😭🤍

Benny is the Benvolio stand in, but yes i the original book Mercutio is killed because he tries to stop the fight between Tybalt and Romeo and Tybalt stabs him hey cut mercutio in the film and just had Benny be the victim by literally “castrating” him gnome version.

When I was 14 the my music teacher chose this movie as our soundtrack study and we had to watch it over, and over, and over again. By the time I was 15 I never wanted to see a garden gnome again.
