going the same job thanks for the insight i was confused on the plug that need to be add to back of the compressor with the c clip ! i just ordered the low pressure switch for the peace of mind & i also replaced the receiver/dryer because where i live the moisture in the air ruins them within a few hrs of exposure to the atmosphere after a leak in the system or during repairs !

I did a sanden conversion with everything new everything. How do i know how much oil to put in. The compressor says it comes with 4.5 is that enough for my 85 c10 or do i go with what the factory calls for. All the ac shops around here say diffrent things. Are you suppose to put oil in condensor? If so does it matter which tube?

Go check out this video I published and read some of the Q & A comments: kzread.info/dash/bejne/qHukr5qvkZW-dso.html And here's one of my answers to a question: "Add 1 oz for each component being replaced; that being the condenser, accumulator and evaporator. Measure out the oil in the old compressor via the drain port. Compensate for the difference with the new compressor. If only old had 1 oz and the new has 3 oz, you're over by 2 oz ... unless you replace the condenser and accumulator ... which should have 1 oz each. These are all estimates. You want to error on the side of more vs less oil."

Mine says it’s already installed with Pag 150 inside so I’m assuming I don’t have to drain it out as you did the packaging oil right ?

That's correct.

So on my new compressor I have to drain out the oil then refill it again? It has 8oz of oil in it already,and instructions on the compressor says add more oil for systems with rear ac but it doesn't say how much.

Drain both the old and new compressor to compare difference. Add or subtract to match the old compressor.

What's a part number for the pressure switch(i assume high pressure) that goes into the back of the compressor? And do you know the part number that goes into the a/c manifold(I assume low pressure)? Thanks for the video!

@@hardlymovingpro I found my old hoses and the low pressures switch mounted on a/c manifold had same pressure ratings on it as a santech MT0790. High pressure I used was Santech MT0447 which was what another used that got his working used. And clutch activation switch mounted on dryer I used was MT0205. Getting ready to charge up system today with help of a friend that's don't it before so I'll let you know how it goes later!

@@hardlymovingpro well got the system filled and it was putting out 55 degree air on a probably 90 degree day. I'll see how it does in the next week or so and let you know. Nice to be able to drive the truck in the summer with the windows up again. Granted now I hear other noises that the wind used to drown out!

Little bit lost I’m replacing my ac compressor and the accumulator drier ! Now I did just install the compressor but I haven’t add anything because I’m planning just to install the parts and bringing to a mechanic to do the vacuum and the re-fill will affect anything if I didn’t add anything and I’m driving the car like that ? And if u can tell me what is the thing u add in the compressor and how much u add thanks for your videos

Most replacement compressors come prefilled with PAG oil. I added additional oil in the compressor to compensate for lost oil residue in the replacement condenser and accumulator. Add 1 additional oz for each component being replacement (i.e. 2 oz)

Ok thanks so much for your fast answer it helps me a lot and like I say I do not have the tool to vacuum and refill but I will just install the parts and bring to the mechanic to do that

@tavo3112 you can rent the vacuum pump for free at autozone with the hoses.

Where is part 3 ? Where you show how much to freon to add ?

If the ac system was opened up for a short time frame, the dessicate crystals in the accumulator does not have enough time to absorb much moisture.

@@hardlymovingpro Well, I figured out what it's called. It's the orifice tube. It's in the hose to the dryer. A guy told me to change it when I changed the compressor.

How many ounces of pag oil did you add?

Measure out the PAG oil from the old compressor and put in an equal amount in the new compressor. Unless stated in the new compressor box, you have to measure out what's in the new compressor.

What type of pliers was those you pulled them clamps out with

Pag 46 is ok? I thought pag 150 was standard?

The PAG type is usually stated on a label inside the engine compartment. Most cars use PAG 46 which I believe covers GM. On a BMW I worked on, the PAG was 100. I double checked on the BMW right before I was going to put in PAG 100.

@@MrRoy-rb1je No problem. FYI - I read somewhere that PAG oil is a cheap oil but works; while pure synthetic ester oil may be better. The beauty of ester oil is it's compatible and mixes with R12 and R134a system oils. So if you're doing a R12 conversion and you think you removed all the R12 mineral based oil, don't replenish with PAG ... use ester oil.
