GMC 320 plus geiger counter at an old incandescent mantle (Glühstrumpf) (Thorium)

Granite surface might be radioactive itself.

Granite emits primarily Alpha radiation. This geiger counter does not sense alpha, so that's no whats causing the high count rate.
Do you know why the value increase and decrease so slowly? I mean they should jump from 20 to 2000 cpm in a couple of seconds, like the frequency of the LED, right?

The GMC320? Is good? I can use for pinpointing sources walking around with it?

@@KandiKlover its a hit and miss. But radiation is spontaneous and unpredictable energy.
Hello, What radiactive thing is that?

1 uSv entspricht soweit ich weiss 0,1 mrem. Also 0,565 mrem
1700 CPM. Not great, not terrible.
the check source on my cdv-700 is hotter than this, but from what I understand that's DU on some of those and radium on the others
It's not that radioactive at all. Won't do anything to you. I have similar to these for coleman gas mantle lamp, the radioactive ones burn way brighter.
